Not a ton of one-to-one comparisons for college football, but Kirkland is definitely Clemson. After decades of being pretty good, but not relevant at a national level, they both willed themselves into becoming national powers by just outspending everyone else and throwing cash at top-tier talent and resources.

Arsenal - Cleary. Maybe not as big a fall as Leeds (until Leeds' promotion this season), but certainly not what they were about a decade ago.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 10:36 pmLeeds United - Shearman & Sterling.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 5:08 pmTo add some soccer comparisons into the mix:
FC Barcelona - Cravath
Real Madrid - S&C
Manchester United - Davis Polk
Bayern Munich - Wachtell
Liverpool - Skadden
Manchester City - Kirkland
Tottenham - STB
Dortmund - Weil
Juventus - Paul Weiss
One of the very best decades ago, but had started going down subsequently and never recovered.
Ajax - Covington. Good history, and certainly decent, even if their finances aren't in the same league as the Reals and Bayerns of the world. This might be a general DC biglaw-Dutch league point.

Orrick is the Padres. Just so chill, yet making moves.

Gibson Dunn for Dodgers. Lots of superstar talent, often on the national stage.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 3:36 pmSure the Dodgers have Mookie/Bauer, but the Dodgers are chock full of home grown superstars/allstars. That's why they've been so good—Kershaw, Jansen, Turner, Bellinger, Muncy, Seager, Buehler, May, Urias, Smith, and more are all homegrown. Kinda nuts how good their internal development has been.Internationalist wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 2:19 pmI think they Dodgers are a better fit since they both spent their way to relevancy.
Kirkland is the king of laterals...maybe the Yankees would be a better fit tbh.
Maybe Fenwick as the Seattle Seahawks? Kinda not on top, but always be be branding and talking up culture.
