Confirmed with OCS today that the registrar has been instructed to release grades as they get them. Not sure that’s reassuring since it means current delays are all down to the profs.

FWIW, a professor in one of my classes has posted grades (to Courseworks), but that grade doesn't yet appear on LawNet. So I'm not totally confident that OCS is right about that.
Yeah, I still don't think they've released all grades submitted already. I'm still missing CRs that professors say they submitted (not to mention letter grades).

Still 0/3 for law school grades as well. Seems pretty much on-brand for CLS admin.

I have it on good authority that the bottleneck is administrative — apparently grades must be manually reviewed before final release. Meanwhile I’m 0/5 grades (thisisfine.jpg).

Funny that a school whose entire raison d’être is basically to be a biglaw pipeline is poised to mess this up big time.

-Repost of good advice

1. Bad bidding--This is the worst thing students do every year. Many, maybe most, of the people who strikeout from CLS are doing something other than the prudent play, which is to fill your schedule with large-class NYC firms. Anything else entails an unnecessary risk. It's up to you to decide how badly you want something that isn't that, and whether your specific situation is such that you can afford to take on some kind of risk. But a good rule of thumb if you want to minimize the probability of debtfucking your life is that non-Stone students should be bidding a minimum of 20 large-class NYC firms. Regardless of GPA, this should include all of the following, unless you have a seriously good reason not to bid one of the above: Cadwalader, Clifford Chance, Fried Frank, Greenberg Traurig, Hogan, K&L Gates, Kaye Scholer, Kramer Levin, Mayer Brown, Milbank, Paul Hastings, Proskauer, Schulte, Sidley, and Willkie. If you are at least median-ish, that list should also include Kirkland, Ropes, and Shearman. To focus on anything besides the firms most likely to hire you if you are non-Stone is a significant risk.
Warms my heart to see this reposted *six years* (!) after I wrote it.

The particulars may have changed to the extent the data is different from 2015, but the broader message stands.
Just curious, why did you include K&L if their NYC office takes in only 5 summer associates?

Really glad they announced that they would have grades back today. Cause it is totally not stressful waiting around all day for grades that never show up...

Is there some choreographed part of these screeners where the interviewer will go “OK let’s have a quick look at your transcript”? (i.e., the closest analog I can think of to carrying a hard copy of your transcript into the interview room)

Or do interviewers just tacitly review transcripts before/during interview? Sorry for the dumb question, just not sure what to expect and OCS never really covered this.

There is definitely not a choreographed examination of transcripts for most interviews. It usually doesn't come up unless there's something odd (e.g. extreme upward or downward, one exceptionally good/bad grade, etc.). Interviewers try to review beforehand interview, but if they're busy, it may never get reviewed.

Anyone writing a Note that doesn’t have a grade yet? My transcript is blank for my Note, and unsure how to explain/bring that up in a conversation

I am in the same situation. But since note deadlines for some journals extend into March, I am not sure it matters--grades can be put in retroactively, I believe, so you can get your grade when your note is finally submitted.

Any sense on how it's gonna be having only 4 grades (instead of 6) for Monday interviews? Have done well in those 4 classes but just wondering if anyone thinks it could hurt me.

Will firms start callbacks before WIP ends? Like, I interview with firm X on Monday, is there any chance of receiving a callback by Wednesday? Or do they all wait until Thursday to call people?

Judging from past years' EIP threads, I think you can begin hearing back about CBs during WIP, e.g., 2019 EIP ran July 30-August 2, and people started posting on TLS about CBs as early as July 30. Same thing for 2018.

Good luck on Monday everyone, you got this!

No, almost every firm gives callbacks within 24 hours. A few do a few days, but you’ll be getting callbacks from screeners as soon as the end of the day.

As I noted, that was written in 2015, based on my EIP experience from *2014*, which used data from *2013*. Back then, K&L gave 7 offers out of 60 interviews, and were definitely among the 30 firms most likely to offer a non-Stone student. I know for sure they have downsized since then. I suspect the data have changed for at least a few of them. The relevant point year to year isn't to bid Firm X; it's to bid all the firms which have the best chance of hiring you.
