OP here, bumping this 'cause I've got some free time and my wife's busy working.

Happy to answer anything about in-house, law firm recruiting (I was pretty involved in that and the summer program before I left my last firm), or law firms generally.

Thanks for taking the time! How hard is it for a general litigator to get an in house role at a media company? I’m really interested in this field, but recognize that it’s a lot more common for corporate or IP lawyers to land these jobs. Any advice for a junior lit associate?

How’s it been? Better?
Everything I hoped it would be, thanks, man!

I love my legal team of 10-15, the work's very generalist (I do almost everything but litigation, employment and privacy), and the company did well this year so I got an extra bonus on top of the normal incentive comp. Sucks to not get the law firm bonus this year, but worth losing that in exchange for a sustainable job I could do for a long time.

I thought it'd be hard to meet people/get integrated into the company but everyone's gone out of their way to get me involved with new teams and work across from a variety of people. More video calls than I ever had at a firm but I value it a lot starting remotely, since people can put a face to my name.

I actually quite liked my law firm (as far as law firms go), but this has been a dream.
