At my old firm, everyone was able to see the full hours information for every other attorney, whether partner or associate. You could see the hours they entered, narratives, etc. Always seemed a bit odd that the complete info would be so readily accessible to any attorney at the firm.

I'm not sure why the associate would get into trouble for a screwup on IT's part. I can see IT getting into hot water but not the associate. Unless there was an express rule in the handbook about associates not being permitted to look at others' hours, but I highly doubt there was such a rule because, absent an IT screwup, associates at that firm simply wouldn't have the ability to look at others' hours.

Associate probably said something stupid based on the information they had access to
