A lot of regionals don't want to sponsor and Big 4 listings explicitly said they won't sponsor (but they still ended up taking some internationals so I don't know how strict they are about that). Some of the internationals were basically forced into second-tier jobs (non-big 4, non-biglaw) with big firms that sponsor but don't pay as well.
It's not a bad outcome anyway but internationals should be aware.
You mean biglaw firms were also not willing to sponsor international students? Do you have any idea of the pay range of these second-tier jobs?
Already enrolled in the ITP and trying to make sense of my likely outcomes.

Biglaw in big markets didn’t mind but I think smaller offices/firms were looking for local ties and weren’t really looking to sponsor.
I don’t know about salaries for sure. I wasn’t told specific numbers but was told a “little lower” than big 4 so I assume something like 90-110.
I am talking strictly about tax LLM. I honestly don’t know if the situation for ITP is different. It’s probable some people I assume to be tax llm is actually ITP but I really don’t know. You really should talk to career services.
All my info for internationals is second hand so do what you can to verify.

Hi, I am an international student enrolled in the ITP for the 2020 class. Could you please send me a message, I have some questions relating to the above and I can't send a message yet as I'm new to the forum.
Thanks.
I'm a Tax LLM from the 2017 class.
Aside from 1 person in ITP, I can't recall anyone else getting BigLaw Tax in NYC.
Some others I knew did get Big 4 in NYC though. Generally, it's a pretty small class. You can in touch with people online
