Not really, but it sticks closely to the Nashville "market" scale.

Nashville is a fun place to live, but it can be a hard market because you are pulling close to biglaw hours and nowhere near comp. or bonus. At all the big shops. Especially if you are in corporate or transactional work.

Thanks. That’s what I’ve heard regarding pay/hours. I know a few people who were down there and eventually left because they couldn’t justify the hours/pay (most ended up going to Houston/Dallas). Also, when I spoke to some of them, they also mentioned that Nashville may not be as “fun” for a few years post-covid, which is something to consider. Not sure how much truth there is to that, though.

Edited for typo.

Honestly, the city is not as locked down as it probably should be, so you can certainly still find things to do, but agree that the big draw of the city--food scene, music scene, etc.--will not look the same for a while.

If you are not wedded to Nashville, I would strongly consider Dallas. This is particularly the case if you are trying to have a low cost of living, "friendlier" culture, and don't care about making partner that much.

That’s for the input! I’m looking into Dallas as well.

Can you tell me more about the state of Nashville’s legal market right now? Is it still busy? Were there measures put in place during covid (or any layoffs)?

I'm an associate at one of the big four, and there seems to be plenty of work firmwide. Friends who practice with our peers are also busy. No notable COVID slowdown (yet).
