Typical office job, if you count for the 3 years of lost income while in law school and the salary cut after lasting in big law for 2-3 years.

Because it provides a fresh start and a high odds shot at a high paying/impressive career even if you spent your high school and college years getting fucked up and dicking around.

You're not wrong but at least you get to see your odds (once you get your LSAT, you kinda know) before you commit to going.
