Well, further north of UT, 3.64, prior work exp, LR. Preselects for OCI interview:
Houston:
Andrews Kurth
Baker McKenzie
Latham & Watkins
Porter Hedges
Kirkland & Ellis
BoyarMiller
Bracewell

Dallas:
JW
HayBoo
Fish
Locke Lord
Polsinelli
K&L Gates
Gardere
Fulbright
Hunton
Jones Day
Sidley
Perkins Coie
Weil
Thompson & Knight
Dentons
Baker Botts
Greenberg Traurig

Can anybody tell me positive attributes for Dentons and K&L Gates? They don't have much as far as Chambers-rated practice groups, not great feedback that I can find.

Your post history says you're a practicing attorney. Why are you doing OCI?

I work at an insurance defense firm. I am not a practicing attorney...in law school, working part time. I am doing OCI because I want a real job.

If K&L ends up being your only option from OCI, take it and be happy for the job/paycheck. Otherwise reconsider. K&L, especially the Dallas office, has seen a lot of partner departures to other firms in the last two years. The future of the firm is "uncertain."

I have also heard first hand from people who worked there that the corporate group faced substantially turn over on more than one occasion over the years (one or two partners stayed rest left).

'grats kids.

A few things that are contrary to what you may read: at least one UT person who had a CB did not get an offer last year, and they no longer do offers during the CB, but, rather, get back to you within 24 hours. Good luck

last year, a few firms sent them out the night of the fair; a lot came out Friday and the next Monday, though there were a fair amount of firms that sprinkled invites out over the next week (and even a few weeks).
This jives with my experience. My callbacks came either the night of the fair or the day after.

Best of luck to all

Any news from Ropes or Bracewell? Ropes is apparently doing CBs from BLG, so safe to say that ship has sailed?

Does anyone know much about K&E Houston outside of the basic Google search? Would love to hear more about them as they seem like an interesting firm investing in the market despite oil fluctuation.

Polsinelli CB...

How long is the wait time...for interviews on Monday 08/08, should I expect dings/callbacks within the week?

Someone told me if you don't hear in 24-48 hours it is probably a no?

What specifically would you like to know? K&E is indeed investing in the office, they just signed a lease for the best space in the newest building and I think they are still in expansion mode.

A couple years ago they were offering sizeable signing bonuses to students, no idea if that is still the case, but they are still offering laterals money if you move (at least according to recruiters who call every 3 days.

Full disclosure, I work for another large firm in town, so my view is only based on talking to people there, and working across from them, but K&E Houston seems pretty typical K&E. Intense, good work, possibly a little too brash for the market. Its K&E, its a great firm. If you want to do restructuring, there is no other firm that should be above it on your list in Houston.

Also work at another large firm in town. Correct re: restructuring. But, that is a risky practice area to look at as a law student. Likely the market will have rebounded by the time you start. K&E does good work, but they don't have the talent (yet) that BB, VE and Latham have. If you want to do corporate work in Houston, you should be shooting for those 3. But agreed, KE is offering (relatively large) signing bonuses to laterals still.

Would also love to know this. Not accepting others right now because I'm waiting to hear.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
