Ya apparently dogs can sniff out certain chemicals in the pills? The K-9 officer specializes in identifying the pill once the dog sniffs it out. I was surprised as well. 2 small little pills that had been in there for god knows how long... and that dog sniffed it out. Didn't even think the things had a scent to begin with.

Re: Class A Misdemeanor while student
Hey guys, thought I'd give an update.
The case was dismissed. My attorney told me that the pills were like 4 years old or something, and that because my car was bought used 6 months ago, it would've been difficult to prove that they were my pills.. which they were not. I also tested negative on my drug test that I was given at prison. As soon as the DA got the police report, my attorney met with her and managed to just get it dismissed altogether.
I guess the pills were just left under the passenger's seat mat when I bought the car? Or someone I was transporting accidentally dropped them? I'm not totally sure.
They decided to take it easy on me because I'm a law student and it was my first offense of any kind. I really appreciate the help you guys gave me a few months ago. It was definitely the most stressful few days of my life. Just glad its over.

Dumb cops. Fidgeting around is not reasonable suspicion. Must have been close to the quota deadline

Good news/bad news: good news is that for almost every employer this is a total non-issue, and it almost certainly won't be a C&F issue. Bad news is that for the DOJ an arrest is grounds to dive deep into what happened. If you're a rising 2L you're fine, it will be 5+ years when it's time to talk about it assuming there are no other issues.
