granted, i can't get behind jos a bank or men's warehouse, but man, if you owe sallie mae, you've got no business getting anywhere near BB (or even buying a ludlow at full price, for that matter). no one at the sf firm cares if you're in alfani vs brioni.
Not a single person has advocated for buying BB's or Jcrew suits ITT (i'm assuming yout talking strictly about suits because indochino's shirts are more expensive than BB), nor has anyone said they can't put their SA money into loans. Additionally, I'd prefer to pay the extra $20 or so a shirt rather than get some club room garbage that will have a hole in the elbow by mid-summer.

Solid rant tho.

You don't HAVE to have BB or similar, but it can actually make more sense to do so if you can afford it. Your clothes will look way better than cheap stuff from Macy's, and will last a lot longer. I have BB and similar level clothes from a decade ago.

And yeah, sales/outlets. And you don't need 25 shirts. I would think in the 7ish range are completely fine if you can't afford more.

Proper cloth costs $95+ per shirt when I looked last time. A BB white shirt sells for like $65 but since we're talking biz casual won't really want to get many of those. But yeah on sale a BB shirt is a great deal. Same re Bonobos--if you can't wait for a BB sale I'd recommend Bonobos Daily Grind shirts. They have a buy 3 deal all the time (BB might too?), which makes it worthwhile IMO.

I bought a few BB shirts and a bunch of Macy's shirts for my SA and the Macy's shirts literally all would tear at the elbow after a dozen wears and a few cleanings and still cost almost $40. Meanwhile the BB shirts I bought for like $76 or something at the sale price are still wearing well after like 50+ wears and 10+ cleanings.
