I'm not sure those two statements are necessarily conflicting. No one cares, but if they don't like you it's conceivable they might say 'grades' instead of 'this thing you did.'

Your work product and personality are more important than grades, etc because your firm it wherever you are has actual experience and examples to judge your fit with them. In that context, grades in classes (with likely outdated law/ actual practice techniques) don’t mean much as actual examples trumps hypothetical possibilities/ scenarios. But if a place doesn’t like you or your work or have the need for you, then grades give them an out that allows them to save face, defend themselves. Likewise, if you and another intern re both equal but there is only one spot available (either for tha practice area or the firm itself) grades can be a tie breaker and grade trajectory could also come into play.Anonymous User wrote:I'm not sure those two statements are necessarily conflicting.
