I think the problem's mutual. That said, I too could have done more to get work. I'd get a shitty assignment, do it, but then not follow up on that a month down the road when the litigation had proceeded. Not that that always guarantees work, but that's definitely a work stream that I've passed up.
As I think about this out loud, I'm starting to realize that I don't want to do another year of *this.* I was brought on to do labor & employment work and I'm going to start getting it, or I'm out.
