Re: Philadelphia Offer Threat 2015
Reed Smith made callbacks within about 24 hours of screeners at my school. I got an email ding post-screener about a week later. Have heard of several people in post-CB limbo with them--maybe not the most well-organized recruiting dep't? (FWIW that criticism is not borne of any bitterness-- had accepted another offer at a firm I preferred before receiving their ding.)

Any new Fox movement? I've been waiting in limbo since late August.

To the above anon: I was supposed to have a CB with Fox tomorrow that I cancelled. So, they're definitely still scheduling CBs, which might account for the delay in sending out offers.

I know multiple people that had a callback and got a rejection right away. They've also been doing CBs at their smaller offices in the area. It's possible that you just weren't in their first round of offers.Anonymous User wrote:Any new Fox movement? I've been waiting in limbo since late August.

I don't have much to say other than that I've heard that MLB and Dechert are both sweatshops. Anyone have any other impressions/insights?Anonymous User wrote:While we're at it can we share impressions of different firms? What their "cultures" are supposed to be? I've been on several callbacks and I think I'm bad at perceiving these things.

I'm not sure about Dechert/MLB.
I had CBs with Cozen, Stradley and Obermayer. All of the people I interviewed seemed really cool and I would have liked to work at any of them. Seemed like they were fairly livable firms, as much as large firms can be.
Cozen's office was legit, too.

Anyone have an idea of how hard it is to lateral into a Philly transactional practice from a NYC V5 as a mid-level associate?

I got the same impression from Blank Rome. Great people and it seems like they also have their own lives. I also got a little work hard/play hard vibe from some of the associates.Anonymous User wrote:I'm not sure about Dechert/MLB.

I have a callback there this week as well. I was told Archer moves pretty slow from inside sources. I'll keep you posted.
