Just to make sure, we don't upload our resumes correct? We have to manually input each "work experience" in?

Yup. If you get an interview you'll send a resume to the component(s) that selected you, but for now it's the charming interface of AVUE.

Yes. It's annoying. I assume they do it this way so every application is in the exact format so it's easy to skim and find the goods quickly.

Exactly what it says under the description. Not an essay, just information you think will be helpful to your app.

I find it unusual that "Additional Information" is given twice as many characters as each essay does. It seems like they're encouraging a long, essay-type response. Unfortunately, I've neither the talent nor willpower to write another lengthy essay.

I don't think it's intended to be an essay - it's an opportunity to expand on other things in the app (like work experiences and law school grading systems and whatnot). I treated it as a kind of resume and listed stuff that would be on my resume but didn't fit into the employment etc. boxes.

Does anyone know the next time we will hear from DOJ now that our apps are submitted?

It's usually about 3-ish weeks after the deadline. At some point they should announce the date when interviews will be announced on Avue.

(First you get a generic notice that you've been selected for an interview, then you get specific notices identifying which component(s) selected you the next day, usually.)

So then by that logic notifications would go out on the 25th give or take?

Just got an email saying they'll notify us about interviews by September 30th and so the countdown begins.

Did you email someone in the Division, or was the email unprompted?

I got the same thing. Email unprompted. I was unsure if this went out to everyone or if this was the first indication about interviews.

Ah, I got it to, but for some reason it filtered into my gmail's "Promotions" category. smh

Do they contact our references before or after interviews? Will reference checks happen soon?

Generally, after - and at the very least after you have been selected for an interview. For people interviewing with components with which they have experience - mostly people getting interviewed by EOIR, who interned with EOIR previously, but I think maybe antitrust has done this too - they may contact the pertinent reference beforehand (that is, if you have an EOIR person as a reference, and get an interview with EOIR, EOIR may contact the EOIR reference ahead of time). In most cases, though (at least anecdotally), references are checked prior to extending an offer. So they mostly don't happen till November.

I received and accepted a USDC clerkship offer last week and so I changed my app from honors to SLIP. Does anyone know anyone who's done SLIP over their bar summer? How did that go?

I just saw on the "Community" tab that interview selections will be posted online on the 29th and then emails on the 30th.
