F3 is pretty solid if you've never played a fallout game before so that's solidDesert Fox wrote:my wife found out about batman arkham games so we are playing those. I've never played fallout, but I've recently gotten into RPGs (I used to be all FPS and RTS). So I got a copy of fall out 3 on my pc.baal hadad wrote:Oh troo what vidya you got goin on these daysDesert Fox wrote:Drinking and/or video gamesbaal hadad wrote:Wat do you do when you're not at work

What suburb.Desert Fox wrote:both. Law is too many hours, but I like the firm I'm at. But I don't see a great future. Ironically one of the reasons I convinced myself law was better was because engineer careers stall out at 40 years old. But LOL at me lasting in law til then.xael wrote:is this because you dislike law or because of debt?Desert Fox wrote:A mix of:xael wrote:why didn't you become an engineer

But the debt totally fucks the making money part of law. Sure. I'll make 195k this year. But I live in a suburban 1 bed apartment and have a massively negative networth.
But even after exiting, don't you think you'll have better options than with just engineering and stalling at 40? The alternative would be MBA --> middle management, I guess...Desert Fox wrote:Ironically one of the reasons I convinced myself law was better was because engineer careers stall out at 40 years old. We might be neighbors.Desert Fox wrote:One of the ones that's closer, safer, richer, and more cultured than 80% of DC but still gets shit on from hipsters who totes feels safe in NOMA even after someone got skullfucked in their own high rise apartment building by marauding public housing folks.

Heh, this is almost exactly the reason I'm going to law school in the fall. Hope I don't regret it in a few years!Desert Fox wrote:Ironically one of the reasons I convinced myself law was better was because engineer careers stall out at 40 years old.
How about inhouse? Not sure how common that is in DC but here in SV that is the path of choice for patent associates who get sick of the biglaw life. I gotta say those tech company perks are pretty sweet.Desert Fox wrote:No, I'm pretty sure I'm working at a group that is about as good as biglaw gets. And it was pretty much total random luck. I only want to leave to transition to a smaller firm since LOL nobody makes partner anymore.Aureusmons wrote:Do you see yourself switching firms in the near future

Getting in-house from lit-only practice is difficult unless you have some prosecution experience (e.g., 2-3 years).orangered wrote:How about inhouse?
