can't fire u for being gay, shrewd move.

At smaller firm with 3 SAs. Two of us leave by 6:00 or 6:30 but other person stays until 7ish. Do I need to be staying late too and is it hurting my offer chances by leaving early?

With the 7 o'clock guy, coordinate happy hour for 6 one day. He'll oblige. Buy the drinks, and raise the option of you 3 leaving together each day so there's no stay late competition. Power in unity.
Nothing else is a big deal except the sleeping. You could get f'd for that. It's also rude.

There's no reason for this to be anon.Anonymous User wrote:On the gay thing it's probably a joke and a good one, but they can fire someone for being a weirdo. Disclosing your sexual orientation on a work call when asked "how are you" is weird. If real, clear it up.
With the 7 o'clock guy, ask the person who leaves at 6 if the 3 of you could all coordinate happy hour for 6 one day. He'll oblige. Then after this you may be able to coordinate leavig times so you all leave together.

Also, lol@suggestion to "coordinate" leaving times. From the perspective of a law firm, "6:00 or 6:30" and "7ish" are the same thing. Who cares if one guy leaves half an hour after the other two guys? There's no issue there.

you're right, but hes obviously self conscious about it. it can also brew some stupid competition. it's not offer or no offer, but an easy way to fix the problem. with 3 people i'm sure there's a lot of imagined pressure not to leave first.

Left a three hour event after 30 minutes because I had to do journal stuff. I Irish exited. Heard later that the recruiter noticed and was asking where I had gone, and why I hadn't said goodbye to anyone.

I got crunched for time and turned in an assignment at its deadline when it wasn't really finished. Attorney hasn't reviewed it yet, but I earnestly asked for informal feedback when he gets around to it and mentioned that I got tripped up by a few things and had some questions for him. Hoping he'll just think I didn't understand something because I'm a summer, not that I managed my time really badly and turned in something only 85% done. Traditionally 100% firm, but has a small class and they don't seem to care about us. No offer?

Not my story but this is apparently true and confirmed by multiple people. It's too great not to tell so let's see if you can guess offer or no offer:
A partner was making small talk to this associate about having trouble getting a good night's rest and that he was tired during the day because he was so busy. The SA studied at a sleep clinic during undergrad/did neurology/psychology or some such. The associate suggested that he should take quick cat naps during the day as 15 minute naps were borne out by the research. The associate also said the naps were really helping them stay focused during the day-essentially implying to the partner that this person was taking naps at their desk while on the clock.

I don't see this as that weird. Also, unless the SA is billing for the nap time, it's not "on the clock" anymore than stepping outside for a cup of coffee is on the clock.Anonymous User wrote:Not my story but this is apparently true and confirmed by multiple people. Re: DF, Will I get an offer 2015
I'm so cripplingly nervous about getting no offered (even though there's not really any precedent for it at my firm) that I thinks it's just palpable. I have zero, maybe negative confidence. Today when asking for feedback on an assignment I broached the subject by asking if the attorney thought it was "total garbage or just regular garbage." Seriously. Couldn't stop myself. He laughed, but why the fuck would I say that. I figure I just have to be the unlucky one, and now I'm furiously self-fulfilling the prophecy. No offer?

i have no idea about offers which is why i'm here to learn from df but i think you should try to pass it off like you're actually full of yourself and it's false modesty, like if you trip but then act like you were just breakdancingAnonymous User wrote:I'm so cripplingly nervous about getting no offered (even though there's not really any precedent for it at my firm) that I thinks it's just palpable.
