You could try to become a Marine JAG. From what I understand, you are a rifleman first and go through a normal Marine OCS process and The Basic School. Best of both worlds?

The "you are a rifleman first" is largely horseshit perpetuated by POGs trying to feel like they're badasses too. Don't drink that koolaid.
