Got an email this morning I scored in range 1. Waiting to get a call for an interview.

Same. Do you interpret the email as stating that only 10 applicants are in score range 1, or just that they'll send the top 10 applicants from score range 1 to the department whenever a vacancy occurs? If it's the former, then we might have a good chance of becoming co-workers!

My interpretation is that they have not indicated to us how many are in range 1. I believe they will send the top 10 people beginning in range 1 to the DAs office for round 2. So if there are 50 in range one they start with the top 10 out of the 50 in range one. If there are 7 in range 1 they start with those 7 then move to the top 3 in range 2. For those of us in range 1, our success depends on how many they are trying to hire (hopefully more than 10) and also how many people that are ranked above us in range 1. I surely hope we can be co-workers, best of luck!

So the notice I received said interviews were starting March 16th, which is Monday and only the top names would be referred to the department. Although I made it in range 1, I guess I was not invited to the interview yet. Anyone get a call for an interview from range 1?

7:59 anon from above. I haven't heard anything. Maybe they're planning on sending out interview requests starting Monday? It would be cruel for HR to have sent the eligible list to the DA's office on Thursday (assuming that they sent out the emails at the same time that they forwarded the list), then have the DA's office call candidates on Thursday/Friday for interviews starting Monday. At least I would think it's cruel given that I'm out of state and have to book a flight back for any interview, haha.

don't expect anything from San Bernardino for a while. Expect movement in the beginning of April. And all who made group one is getting a second round interview
It is way more than just ten. They are very slow with the process so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I've got nothing. Anon above: how did you get your info? And just to be sure, you're saying that everyone from group one will be interviewing even though group one is more than ten people?

Any idea how many San Bernardino is looking to hire? Do they generally bring in relatively large classes (proportional to the number of interviewees...)?

they're hiring five initially with potentially more from the list over time.

last year they hired around 25 total over a year period

Also really curious as to stats. Did they just perform really well in the closing/interviews, or does the office usually have people they want to hire in mind and conduct interviews that way? Everyone I've spoken to told me that the office already knows the people it wants to hire.

No. For its fellowship program. However, as long as fellows pass the bar and do well, they get hired as DA I.

Look, since I don't work for the DA's office, anything I'll say it's somewhat educated speculation.

He clerked two semesters. No special grades, I don't think, but he was a gunner when it came to getting court assignments. He would often do one or two prelims per day. And he even did a full length misdemeanor trial (with supervision). He is also a likeable white male, and ocda loves those.

I'm sure he did well in the second interview but my opinion is that ocda had every intention to hire him already. But again, this is just speculation.
