Re: DOJ SLIP 2015
I'm a vet and I was the one that had both offers from Antitrust and Comm. Lit. I wasn't lying, there's no reason too, this is anonymous, which would make lying stupid. I was just trying to provide you guys with info. In addition, paying attention to details, Deana's recent post is regarding offers for the Antitrust HP not SLIP.
Nonetheless, I know that I was offered positions before the finalists selection was posted by Deana.

Re: DOJ SLIP 2015
Actually, the post from 11/18/2014 ("Email notices sent - Antitrust Finalists") refers to both HP and SLIP. So it seemed odd that some people would have received offers before the "Finalists" were even announced - maybe the poster suspected trolling? But it seems they make offers to vets before anyone else.

Re: DOJ SLIP 2015
Just to back this anon up, I was a SLIP a few years ago, and I received two USAO offers and an ATR offer before anyone was designated a finalist. I'm also a vet. When it comes to SLIP, it seems non-vets don't get interviews/offers until the selected vets accept or decline their offers. This was also reflected in my SLIP component's group of SLIPs: out of 8 of us, 6 were vets.Anonymous User wrote:I'm a vet and I was the one that had both offers from Antitrust and Comm. Lit. Edit to add this: This is NOT true for the HP.

That's interesting to know. Are you a SLIP 2015 applicant or are you a past SLIP applicant helping us navigate this crazy process? If the latter, did you apply to HP? If so, do you think being a SLIP and a Vet helps in the process of selection for HP? I'm wanting to apply to HP next year after my SLIP summer and would love your thoughts on it.
Btw, sorry for bombarding you with questions.
Nonetheless, thanks!

Re: DOJ SLIP 2015
I was a SLIP several years ago. I started applying for the HP at the end up my SLIP summer when I was offered a one-year federal clerkship, so I withdrew my HP application. I applied for HP again the next year (right after the bar and at the beginning of my clerkship) and received multiple offers, including one from my SLIP component and section.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Just to back this anon up, I was a SLIP a few years ago, and I received two USAO offers and an ATR offer before anyone was designated a finalist. I believe that being a prior SLIP helped me with my HP application because it reiterated my interest in working in government and for the DOJ. When you rank your HP preferences, I recommend ranking your SLIP component first. Do not burn them. Everyone will see that.
As for my veteran status, I do not think it helped me significantly in my HP application. It probably only helped to the extent that my individual interviewers were impressed by military service, but I did not get the impression that veterans' preference was a formal rule.
I hope this is helpful.

So has anyone started hearing back? Does anyone know how long after you're notified that you're a finalist until they give you a decision?
