Also a sign they're going under.
They aren't going under. Probably just cost cutting measures. You people should be happy to have any job ITE.

Is this going to start a trend? Any other firms planning to do this?

You may be right, but that doesn't mean I'll enjoy my decently sized window office on the 60th floor any less.

Ask Winston SA's from a few years ago about cost cutting. Started first by subleasing office space.

Either way you'd be nuts to let the fact that you have to share an office for just the first three years change your mind about what firm you go to.

There are a variety of reasons to actually consider this. Maybe your office mate eats smelly food or talk on the phone nonstop.

Uhh...I think it's extremely relevant to your decision. It could make coming to work each day infinitely more painful than it already is if you don't like your office-mate. Not that you'll have a good quality of life in BigLaw, but this could make it considerably worse.

This. Or, you know, just the basic value of minimal privacy and the colossal effect having your own space can have on your sanity and your ability to survive a stressful work environment year after year.
No one who has ever worked in a high pressure office environment would pretend like your type of workspace isn't a huge fucking deal for your experience there.

WH Boston does this as well in their newly renovated office space (V25).

Absolutely. Much more relevant is how the firm's office in another city has a strong international arbitration practice.

Being v20 and v21 is a big difference. Work load and exit options all are better at v20. Hours better at v21.

Dude, if this bothers you (it certainly would bother me), and if you have other offers that you could still accept, I wouldn't hesitate to rescind your acceptance.

Nah, I picked them for a specific reason, and I really really liked the people. Its an initial bummer, but NY associates share offices anyway (per this entire board), so whatever. The new office will likely be nice in its own right.

Out of curiosity, how does office sharing even work? Do you schedule conference calls around each other? Use blutooths? Sounds awkward as hell.
