If it is below median, I would not put it. Resumes should highlight your strengths only. If you go a really high grade in a relevant class I would consider putting that down instead.

It is below median at my school. That's what I thought. Won't put it and will highlight my experience instead.

I am struggling to decide if I should apply to PD offices through EJW or if I should submit an independent application. Is there an advantage either way? I've heard that some organizations at EJW get so inundated they don't even read all the applications. Thoughts would be greatly appreciated-- thanks so much!

Anon, ITE you take every chance to obtain a jerb that you can get your hands on. Get dinged at EJW? Do table talks.

So what exactly is the credited way to apply to multiple offices/positions in an agency? Bronx Defenders has 3 practice areas and I am actually interested in all of them. My main focus is criminal defense but I also would be into exploring the other practices. The contact person is the same for all of them though so I don't know how I should go about doing my cover letters.
Also is the No. of Openings how many interview slots they have or how many positions they are hiring?

I'm pretty sure that by # of openings they mean how many positions are available that they are hiring for.
Also, what's stopping you from applying to all three of Bronx Defenders' practice areas? Tailor your resume and cover letters for each (i.e. mention that you've taken Family Law and have family court experience for the Family Defense Practice, not for the Criminal Defense Practice)

So write three almost identical letters to the same person save for the one line that relates to the practice area? That is what I was asking I am applying to all of them.

Should I bring a writing sample/references to the table even if the employer does not ask for them?

Do any of your schools reimburse you for travel expenses?

BlueLotus - I think if you're really interested in an employer, then bring a cover letter and references. They might not take it, or might direct you to apply online but you never know. It never hurts to be overly prepared.
Different question: one of the positions I want to apply for has a grade requirement. I have a lot of experience that would look good for this job, but I'm under the grade req. Should I still try? (I know I probably shouldn't bother since they explicitly stated it, but I would loooove this job.)

Are you referring to NH PD?

PD offices also do cut offs? Alas, I am not in the PD world. The position I'm looking/ lusting after is legislative.

I'd apply anyway. No harm done, and who knows, your resume could blow them away! The best they can say is no.

Ask a prof who has written a rec for you before that they could slightly tweak.

Ugh I am waiting to here from my number one choice that I already interviewed with and if I get that I won't do EJW conference. Looks like I will most likely be busy all day writing cover letters

Did you end up applying for all three of the Bronx Defenders divisions?

I have applied to nothing yet. I asked for an expedited answer from my interview last week and I am still hoping it comes tomorrow. Because of the time at this point I'll likely just apply for the criminal division.
