Re: Thank you notes after CBs?
Yeah, I've settled on the "only if it feels natural" approach, and so far I've only sent notes to two coordinators that I felt were especially nice and accommodating. There are a few attorneys I wouldn't mind following up with about something specific we talked about in the interview, but I feel like the better time for that is after I've made a decision on a firm so it doesn't seem contrived. Not sitting on any offers, but almost all of my callbacks were in the past three business days so who knows.

except the girl is (hopefully) sitting by the phone waiting for your text. the associate wants to get back to work and your pointless email could mildly annoy him.FuturePanhandler wrote:Ehh. I feel like sending a thank you note that quick is kind of like texting a girl you just took on a date right after you get home from dropping her off... And I find it odd that you would resent someone for sending a thank you note when they were the only who did so. Sure, it came off as generic, but they were the only one who seemed to understand basic social graces out of the several people you interviewed.Anonymous User wrote:I've interviewed eight people and only gotten one thank you note... and it was very generic and probably would have counted against the person who sent it if I hadn't already submitted my review (which happened within an hour of when this candidate left our offices). I would not bother unless there was a very strong, specific connection and you send the note within a few hours of leaving the firm to actually catch the interviewer before their reviews are submitted. (Your timeframe may extend up to 12 hours or so for a hiring partner, since they'll continue to be involved in the decision-making process after submitting a review.)

also be honest with yourself you do not care about social graces, you are just trying to weasel your way into a job

Oh hey, it's this topic again
I have seen enough lawyers on this site complain about Thank You notes being sent to them that I don't think I'm going to bother. I'm not really seeing the upside but if the complainers are representative at all, there is a potential downside.
