You realize everything that the firm does is to benefit the owners of the firm financially, right? Attorney's at these firms don't just do shit to help people. Charitable contributions are made for tax benefits (which includes funding PI fellowships). Associates do pro bono to develop skills that they otherwise will never be able to develop (no major client is ever going to let you learn how to do something on its/his case that's important). And the plus is that these things make the firm look good to potential clients because it looks like the firm cares about the world. But the truth is that the partners don't give a shit about anything but putting more money in their pockets.

This isn't true. Most partners only want money, but plenty love doing pro bono work. They aren't robots they are people.XxSpyKEx wrote:You realize everything that the firm does is to benefit the owners of the firm financially, right? I don't see how charity giving helps with taxes. Sure you get a deduction but that's still worse off than not giving at all.

Doing shellfish pro bono is a little weird, I guess, but if clams and lobster are important to you, then go for it.
