I won't say don't go. But it is a red flag that's worth noting. They had an abysmal year.

ETA: this I cannot confirm, but I have also heard the CC office is a sweatshop. Hearsay.
Yeah I've heard the same...it's just tough when entertainment is a big reason I went to law school and what seems to be one of the best options has so many negatives.
I've heard Skadden, Latham, OMM CC, GDC, Irell, MTO, QE and Susman called sweatshops. Doesn't leave much choice in LA.
Skadden, Quinn is credited.

Have heard good things re Latham Gibson Irell and especially MTO; should probably elaborate on the sources of your info there.

No idea about OMM and Susman.

Would doing a SA at any of these firms in SF put me in a good spot, or should I just aim to work in LA?

The absolute best corporate group you can get in NY/LA seems to be the credited response, if you can't get one of the above listed firms that has a large entertainment practice.

Chambers has Akin Gump, Sheppard Mullin, OMM, Manatt, Strook, Gibson, and Loeb as the firms in the top two bands.
Anyone have any information about the entertainment practice/life in general at any of these firms?

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's wrong about MTO and I'd be surprised if other ones were really that bad. My point wasn't literal: sweatshop gets thrown around a lot around here, so it's probably not a reason (alone) to shy away from a firm.

Does anyone know about feasibility of lateralling from a top corporate practice to a transactional/entertainment practice at a different firm? Anecdotes are fine.

Following up to who posted above, how possible is it to transfer from a place like Skadden or MTO to an ent. transactional boutique?

OMM seems like the main response here, but I'd rather be at Skadden or MTO for 4 years before-hand. Also, if I decide ent. isn't for me at a future date, the long term health and exit options of those firms far trumps OMM.
