I would think being able to serve on a jury for an actual trial would be a huge win for a 2L with little else to do (at least if the firm doesn't dock your pay). Especially if you wanted to go into litigation. It would be hard to replicate that experience. I dunno that I would try to get out of it.
I'd suspect you'll get struck pretty quickly just for being a law student though.

If you don't want to serve on a jury, just move to a place where they don't have juries.
That being said, it's highly unlikely you will survive voir dire. As a law student, at least one of the parties will probably use a strike on you. If not, just sit back and enjoy the process. You'd learn a lot that may be useful later in your career.

Fed law clerk here. Law students and lawyers get picked just as easily as anyone else. Had two lawyers on our last jury. It's really not the red flag that a lot of people think it is.
