Are you confident in your ability to rein in those hours in the near future? Are the bl hours due to the fact that you're still learning the ropes of case strategy or some other factors? Or, is it just the nature of the 9-5 day interacting with counsel and client that you need to put in some time to just write before 9 and after 5?

If anything I hope my hours will get worse as volume increases. Although "learning the ropes" has expedited some tasks. And yah, conversations suck up a lot of my 9-5 time. In some ways, it makes you realize just how isolating biglaw is.

I know right now you're pulling in 5 figures, but do you anticipate that you'll be able to capture some of the higher shitlaw upside in time?

Also, did you consider going solo? If so, what made you decide to join a shitlaw firm instead?

Thanks for your answers. FWIW I think the leap you made is baller.
