Has anyone heard anything about DOT 2nd round interviews? They are starting this week, but if the government is still shut down, I would presume they aren't happening, correct? It's just hard if you're out of state and flying in to know whether or not to still make the trip up.

Have they notified everyone who got second round interviews? I interviewed at OCI and haven't heard anything, should I be considering that a ding?

I applied to DOL on the day of the deadline but I now want to add a new writing sample to my app. Do you all think emailing them another writing sample would be ok?

You could always e-mail them and ask. I suspect they'd say no, but it can't hurt to ask. (Also, I would ask to substitute for your current sample - I can't imagine they'd let you just add one, then the applications wouldn't be uniform.)

Thanks; I did exactly that. I had a labor/employment-centric writing sample that I was waiting on to get approved by my summer firm. It's not a huge deal, but the new writing sample is far more relevant than the moot court brief I had turned in.

Other than an e-mail that they received my app materials, no.

Does anyone know what "referred to hiring committee" means in the Govt hiring scheme? Does it mean the passing of initial requirements (you are in law school, submitted all required materials, you have a pulse, etc.), or is it something more like "after screening hundreds of candidates, you were in the top X and thus we chose to pass your application on for consideration"? Very much hoping the latter

Forgive me for getting too naively hopeful, but this is the closest I've ever gotten to a job in a while.

If this is on USAjobs, it means you met the bare minimum to qualify for the job and will now be evaluated. Some positions only refer the top X candidates, but X could be 10 or 100 or 4000.

It is actually a state job, and uses the same state HR application system that many states use. Here's to hoping it meant I made a substantial initial cut..

Is this OR DOJ?
If so, I got the same email, I assume it doesn't mean anything (although it was worded like a rejection "We received so many qualified applicants..."
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of stats do you have? Going to an in-state school? Other strong ties?

Yes, it is OR DOJ. I also thought it was a rejection based on the first two sentences. That "received so many qualified applicants" part is what got me to think that we made an initial cut. I'm out of state, no ties, but very relevant experience. I probably shouldn't get my hopes up because I have no ties, but I really want govt/prosecution and would be willing to relocate anywhere permanently just to be a prosecutor. Seems like most of their Honors Attorneys are in state and clerked for Oregon appellate courts.

Anyone else know of any other movement? I was thinking things would start to pick up once the shutdown ended . . .

Has anyone heard anything from the FCPB, or have any info generally on how their interview and hiring process works?

In the past they've waited until the late spring to make decisions and so the whole process was delayed depending on where you applied/interviewed. Also I think both have cancelled their honors program sometime in the spring after doing some interviews in past years, so that's something to watch for.

I know at least one NLRB regional office has started scheduling interviews.
