It just made the program sound like a drag. Very few statements came from a happy place and it was kinda doom and gloom. Obviously still pumped, but...
Also, why are ppl going anonymous ITT? We're already in, plus I doubt they have the spare time to match TLS profiles to acceptees.

Last week at my super boring job!! yesss. Today I had to rename like 200 files with date_name of document_name of party conventions SO as you can imagine I cannot wait for my last day.
Read that book, Jagged Rocks of Wisdom over lunch, it's pretty funny reading. If anyone didn't know all that going in I'd feel pretty bad for them.

Where are you guys getting this passport pic request from? I haven't seen it in any of the emails I've received.

It comes awhile after you get accepted. You get the initial email about sending in a resume, then you get the email telling you the proper format and to send in the picture. I got my passport email yesterday and was accepted roughly 2 weeks ago.
On another note, has anyone else read Jagged Rocks of Wisdom yet? I read it overnight and there is some real stuff in there. Kinda got me jacked up for SA positions.

Just for confirmation, dings came in huge waves in may in the past? I read that somewhere but when I looked back on past years, I couldn't find evidence of it.

Did all of you send official transcripts when you applied? The website says we're supposed to, but there's no email saying so.

No. I have responded to each email request, none of which were about transcripts. This may be different for those still in school because maybe they will eventually ask for final transcripts. I sent an unofficial final transcript when I applied and that's it.

I thought it was a good resource, but honestly more about common-sense and maturity. I think if you have worked at all, none of the advice will come as a surprise. This also goes for current students who have had some professional experiences via internships. I can understand the need to reiterate the advice in the book or to make sure everyone is on the same page as I'm sure the mistakes are repeated every year. (PROOFREAD!!) haha But it's a good eye opener to the environment we will likely face (be on your A game all day erryday)

Would it be completely dumb to get a furnished sublet sight unseen save for pictures exchanged between myself and the owner? Between exams, graduation, and having to go home for a week, I don't really have the time to go to NYC to do apartment searching.

Are you going to be paying them before you arrive? If so I wouldn't recommend this as a plan because its a pretty common scam in NYC.

I'm in a similar situation. I would try to Skype with the guy in the property if he is currently occupying it. Do everything you can, but like you there is no way I'm going to be able to go to NYC prior to my start date

Eh, I didn't realize just how problematic it could be for someone coming to NYC for the summer internship only. Moving is a bitch, so I'm pretty sure that if you're going to law school elsewhere you'd most likely want to roll in with two suitcases and a lap top, then bounce at the end of the internship, hotel style. That being said, if you're a down to earth dude, and you're not afraid to live in Brooklyn, I'll rent you a furnished bedroom in my apartment. PM me for details if you're interested.

do NOT. I repeat, absolutely DO NOT do this. ESPECIALLY if you are depositing ANY money before seeing the place. People WILL post apartments that do not exist and take your money and run.

REPEAT. DO NOT THIS. VERY VERY common NYC scam. DO NOT DO THIS. EVEN if you skype with the guy, I would seriously get confirmation from the building manager and owner...AND neighbors, before ever renting from anyone. Crash with friends or family or in a cheap motel for a couple of days before you find a place but do NOT do the above.

Adding my voice to the "never do this" sentiment. You both sound pretty tempted to try it but please don't. Skype is way too easy of a tool to get your guard down. They could be Skyping from a different location. I know people are trying to save money but if you really cant find someone to check out a place for you or can't come up for a day or two, go with some of the SEO resource options like the universities, internship programs, foreign student options. Those are reliable and even though you'll pay more, at least you won't be scammed.

Got into NY but a little confused on whether or not I should accept the offer. I want to end up in D.C. long-term, and I want to do DOJ work, maybe in antitrust or ENRD. Also super interested in clerking.
Should I accept? It's exploding, so I only have until 6 pm to decide.
Also, for NY, do they actually give you decent options for housing?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
