btw, 100 2Ls accepted offers last year, so that's 25%, not 15%. And $10 says at least one of the above anons are either mranon or bronx bum

What is with this top 15 kid thing? 15 seems arbitrary. Did you mean top 15%?

Top 15 students get a 10k/year scholarship. So thats how you know if you're top 15

Right - as said above, I got a Wilkinson scholarship which goes to top 15 people in the 1L class.Anonymous User wrote:anonymous 3L who posted- just wondering, how do u know u were top 15 kids in the class? also, do u think which secondary you are on matters? or is it pretty much LR --> secondary--> no journal?
I don't think secondary really matters...the only secondary that might be viewed more favorably in certain circumstances is Urban because it is considered somewhat more selective due to grade cutoff, but I doubt anyone outside of other Fordham alums is even aware of this

So no journal vs. Secondary not a big difference?Anonymous User wrote:Right - as said above, I got a Wilkinson scholarship which goes to top 15 people in the 1L class.Anonymous User wrote:anonymous 3L who posted- just wondering, how do u know u were top 15 kids in the class? also, do u think which secondary you are on matters? or is it pretty much LR --> secondary--> no journal?

Poster above -- what are you looking to do? With no journal at all from Fordham it will be very tough. Just be realistic about your options, but don't let it stop you either. Just know whatever effort you were planning on putting in to this job hunt, you need to go well beyond that. And start today.

Do you know of many people with no journal and decent grades and how they did? or is this conjecture?

also, do u have a good reason for why u arent on a journal? i would be prepared to either answer that q or find a way to work in why ure not ( if its legitamate or even come up with something that sounds good) because i think employers will be wondering...

Re: The OFFICIAL Fordham 2014 OCI Season
I honestly think journal is not nearly as big a deal as people make it out to be. If you have good grades and a semi-decent answer to "why no journal?" you will be fine. In my experience most employers dont even bring it up.Anonymous User wrote: different anon, but. Is it worth it or should I just drop out now? Somewhere in the 12-19% range (weird #s in some attempt to be more anonymous). I've already mailed every NLJ 350 firm.

Re: The OFFICIAL Fordham 2014 OCI Season
basically: was solidly top 5% with almost all grades in (half from that semester, all from fall obviously). Was pretty dead set on transferring, had a lot going on and write on was only 4 days or whatever. I did the bluebooking but lacked the motivation to finish the note because of said stuff and I was 99% sure I was transferring anyway. Last grades sucked, dropped to my current range.Anonymous User wrote:also, do u have a good reason for why u arent on a journal? i would be prepared to either answer that q or find a way to work in why ure not ( if its legitamate or even come up with something that sounds good) because i think employers will be wondering...
I'm doing an internship for fall and looking for more stuff to get involved with in the area I'm interested in, so idk if that will help mitigate at all, or how to even spin it. I am pretty entrepreneurial and want to start a solo/business after I graduate if I don't get anything, so I don't know if that could be a way to sell it - that I wanted more practical experience instead of a journal given my goals.
Honestly I'm getting pretty depressed now.... I'm even looking up ways to perhaps start my own journal. Too last minute for a school journal, but maybe some electronic format independent journal ... not that it would amount to anything since the only reason anyone submits to journals is for dat prestige, but idk.

just got an email from CPC that ropes added an extra 10 or so interviews to their schedule... is this a good sign or a bad one? good sign bc they want to interview more ppl bad because more competition for fewer slots ( assuming you would have gotten one of the originals of course)

maybe spin it that you wanted to do a clinic 2nd sem and thought journal + clinic would be too much? just a thought... also, are u not applying to transfer anymore?Anonymous User wrote:One was LRW and one was released abnormally fast (like a week after the final)Anonymous User wrote:Anon who's not on a journal:

How did everyone utilize the SBA sheet? I'm barely top 25% and bid on mostly 2s and 2+s with large summer classes and am wondering if all the 2+s = huge mistake. Did anyone else feel like the sheet was generous?

Re: The OFFICIAL Fordham 2014 OCI Season
Depends on the firm. Some 2+ firms would be reasonable for barely top 25, but a firm like ropes probably wouldn't take someone with under a 3.5, which is more like top 15%

They cut their IP slots in half and prolly gave them to the general slots. Pretty much every firm with patent slots have cut their slots in half.Anonymous User wrote:just got an email from CPC that ropes added an extra 10 or so interviews to their schedule... is this a good sign or a bad one? good sign bc they want to interview more ppl bad because more competition for fewer slots ( assuming you would have gotten one of the originals of course)

Similar grade range, limited my 2+s to those that had the most generous statistics and placed them higher up.Anonymous User wrote:How did everyone utilize the SBA sheet? You should be fine as long as you understood that there were 2+s and then there were 1s disguised as 2+s (such as Ropes, as the other anon pointed out).

Would either ropes or Sidley be reasonable with a 3.5 and secondary journal?
