I wouldn't mind tagging onto this too. For those who have worked in LA biglaw, any thoughts on which firms' LA offices tend to be more laid back/less face time obsessed? I've been in NYC for a few years and will be making the move home to SoCal. I realize biglaw is what it is, but would like to get away from the intense/competitive culture as much as possible. I'm assuming hours won't be much different than NYC, but it would be nice to be somewhere a bit less formal or at least less competitive, where people care more about getting work done and moving on vs competing over who is the most intense and putting in face time (as in, nights and weekends, not expecting to telecommute during normal business hours). Any thoughts on the least NYCish of LA biglaw offices? Does this vary too much by practice groups or are the offices mostly small enough to judge culture?
