Last December I e-mailed all of the firms in question, and had cbs at 2 of them. The other 2 I just met with for lunch since they didn't hire 1Ls. I mass-mailed them all a few weeks ago, for the coming summer and got the cbs.Anonymous User wrote:congrats! can you share how you got them? through OCI? Mass mail? or Job fairs?Anonymous User wrote:cbs from BC, Husch, Shook and Polsinelli.Roberts8000 wrote:Whether you come from a T14 school or not, ties to the area are important. If you go to a T14 and have ties to the area, that's great. You'll still get grilled about your commitment to KC because with so many candidates out there for so few positions, firms want to make sure that they're investing one of their slots in someone who will return.ajeasley wrote:Which schools generally provide the placement opportunities for biglaw in KC? Re: Kansas City Legal Market
Got a phone call the other day from Husch KC setting up a phone interview. I'm pretty excited because I'd love to be in KC and this is probably my only remaining shot. Weird part is, I bid on them at OCI and didn't even get a screener. On the phone they mentioned my online application which I submitted later.
Anybody have an idea what this means?

if i had to guess, they are not happy with the way their recruiting is turning out and are now expanding their potential applicant poolAnonymous User wrote:Got a phone call the other day from Husch KC setting up a phone interview. I heard Husch KC underhired and then sought out some more applicants. also heard they were looking at 30 apps for 10 spots, in KC alone. Sounds like a big class...
anyone else with offers from Husch KC? or information on the hiring cycle?

I heard a couple days ago they're looking at 16-17, but that could have included 1Ls, not sureAnonymous User wrote:I heard Husch KC underhired and then sought out some more applicants. also heard they were looking at 30 apps for 10 spots, in KC alone. Sounds like a big class...

Depends. Sometimes it's only a matter of days, sometimes they are slow movers. They took 3 days to get back to me after my callback.Anonymous User wrote:anyone know how quick they normally turn with an offer after a call back??

Re: Kansas City Legal Market
Stealing this from another thread I follow, would be cool if someone with knowledge of the market could do this (or collectively)What's the word, gossip, reputation, what-have-you on the main [Kansas City] firms? How hard do they work associates, which ones are snobby, which ones are friendly, is there supposedly some sort of hierarchy?
I'd like to get a sense of each firm's identity, however anecdotal it might be.
Would someone with some real knowledge wanna put together a little "Guide to [Kansas City] big-law"?

Get in w/ Shook, Polsinelli, Husch, Stinson, Lathrop, AT, BC, or Spencer Fane = success.Anonymous User wrote:Stealing this from another thread I follow, would be cool if someone with knowledge of the market could do this (or collectively)What's the word, gossip, reputation, what-have-you on the main [Kansas City] firms? According to NALP, that's from 105. Pretty big jump.TatteredDignity wrote:If anyone ITT cares, HB just raised their startling salary to 120.

Yep. And because KC firms are idiosyncratic and unlike lockstep NYC firms, the other big players won't necessarily match in the near future. kinda annoying.

Nice. I think Husch offered all of their 2L's as well. Does anyone know this for sure?Anonymous User wrote:15/15 at SHB (3 of which were 1L offers to return).Wile E. wrote:Anyone have info on offer rates for kc firms from last summer?

Re: Kansas City Legal Market
I realize this is a bit of a necro, but not sure where else to ask. Just got an offer for Stinson Leonard Street in KC, and I see that if their Summer pay is prorated Associate salary, it comes out to $90k starting. NALP has salary listed for the Minneapolis office ($110k) and the only other information I could find was an article from 2011 that had Stinson Morrison Hecker's starting salary at $105k.
Is it true that their starting salary has dropped by $15k in three years? Or is their Summer compensation just not actually a prorated salary?

Re: Kansas City Legal Market
It's my understanding that several firms in secondary midwestern markets pay summers less than the prorated first year associate salary. I don't know first hand that that is the case with Stinson, but I wouldn't rule it out.Anonymous User wrote:I realize this is a bit of a necro, but not sure where else to ask. Anybody hear anything about Husch?
I know about the layoffs in STL, but anybody know how big their KC SA class will be?
