Good luck to you all! Sorry to hijack.

The Writing Component handbook says offers will be made by July 3, and offerees have to accept by 11:59pm on July 3. I dont know of anyone who has gotten an offer yet though

they shifted the curve to expand the higher lower grades and contract the lower ones. 99% sure it started in the spring only.

Anonymous User wrote:In terms of bidding and success rate etc, is there really any meaningful difference between very low Stone (think right on the cut off) and median/slightly above? I can't imagine the "Stone" designation on your resume really means much once they see your transcript. At that point, does it make the most sense to just make a bid list of all <50% honors hiring firms and be done with it?
Bumping this question. Should low Stone be bidding like median students, especially given the uncertainties of rank due to the curve change? What is the deal with firms with 60-80% honors hiring - is it worth bidding on them, or are they actually going for high Stone/Kent and some exceptional non-honors students?

Median bid list here. I lean 60-40 lit over transactional, but a job is first priority. Average/good work experience. Good interviewer. Critiques? All NY offices

It's a safe bet that LR people are getting many of the non-honors spots at firms with 80% Stone rates.

As to whether it's smart to bid more conservatively in light of the curve change, I think that's a good idea given how the NYU's post-recurving EIP season went.

Not necessarily asking for myself, but does anyone know when they announce academic prizes (not just honors) for 1L?

I have a few years of non-impressive work experience. Not a good interviewer. 3.65 GPA. Secondary Journal. Only interested in litigation. I originally had some DC firms on here but my career counselor told me DC would not be in play for me with my grades. My list is all NY now. Feedback?

CSO office person said they should be announced before bidding ends, but if not, it's totally a good thing to have to bring up as a reason that your resume is updated at an interview.

There are some very good NY firms that should be in play that aren't on there (I'm thinking Skadden, Kirkland and Latham as three that jump out), not sure if there's a particular reason.

I have a possibly irrational bias against Skadden (but perhaps I should reconsider that). I've heard that Latham is kind of fratty and that is what I do not want. But I'll look into Kirkland. Thanks.

Weil and GDC should probably be above DPW, S&C, and STB if you want to assure yourself a screener, since the latter three firms usually have bid:interview ratios of 80-100%. Also, I don't think DC is out of the question with a 3.65 and a secondary journal. Cov/Wilmer DC might be, but there are lots of DC offices that will have EIP schedules.

How were they announced? Just by being posted on the website, or via e-mail to the whole school like LR was, or some other novel method I haven't even thought of?

I emailed the registrar and asked, and was told:

Dear [me],
Academic prizes for rising 2L students will be announced at the end of July.

Good, because there was no way I was going to find room for 5 new items on my resume

Schoolwide email. I don't believe there was an initial closed-list email as there was with LR.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
