One more here. I emailed them around a week ago and they said it would be after the new year. I would say I'd its not by next week then totally appropriate to ask for an update.

So we have five. Good sample size. Almost certainly will get an offer from among the five (hopefully five!). Based on last year, today is a likely day, though the move could throw any number of wrenches into it.

So that's 1/6. I wonder if they did them all at once. Trying to build up the courage to call but I doubt I will.

I just heard that all offers are out/accepted and no more will be extended.

I received an oral offer in January. No telling when they will submit formal offers. I was thinking of contacting them in the next couple of weeks to see when that might be. If so, I'll post an update. By the way, congratulations. I guess we will be working together

While I am no oracle, I doubt that the sequester will swallow up any staff attorney positions. I think it is more likely that they would instead institute furloughs (which they probably will through September). Again, there is no way of knowing for sure; I'm just going by my experience working in a federal agency. It is also possible that Congress will (slightly) offset the sequester's cuts to the federal court system if and when they reach an agreement on a continuing resolution (hopefully by the end of March). Until then, I guess we will have to keep our collective fingers crossed.

in the same boat re: a formal offer letter. i guess we'll all (hopefully...) be working together! well, I called sometime in early march and the word was "don't worry, you haven't been sequestered" and that I'd get an ETA on the paperwork soon... of course nothing has happened since then, but at least we can stop worrying about being sequestered?

It would certainly be nice to know our status by the end of the month. Otherwise my job search would need to begin immediately. They certainly have not kept us in the loop
