Some guy in our class posted a picture of his K&E pretzels on FB after getting them.

I'm just a 2L, and so far I've gotten a Starbucks gift card from Ropes.

For those that received something did you send a thank you?

I am a 2L with an up coming summer. I received a card stating a charitable gift had been made in my name. I don't know how much, but the charity is a major charity and board in the city. However, the gift and card game from the chairman of the local office and not necessarily the firm itself. Don't know if something will come from the firm, but my question would still stand--did you send a thank you?

I was thinking about sending an email to the chairman (we've already broken the email ice) and just thanking him for the thoughtful gesture, hope that its is put to good use and wish him happy holidays.

If you got something from the firm who did you send your thank you?

Same from Latham. 1 cookie and a card. Really guys? You were awesome all summer long and everyone there seems genuinely cool. I'd rather them send nothing I think. When I'm a 3-4th year, I'm going to send scotch/wine/cigars to my favorite summer associates.

I'm the Ropes 2L above. Since I just got an e-gift certificate, I just sent a really quick thank you email to the recruiting person who sent me the message.

I wasn't going to send a thank you, but I received something a bit more expensive than most things in this thread (except maybe the Weil fleece jacket). Smaller firm so don't want to out myself, but still BigLaw w/decent sized SA class. Is an e-mail in order?

This is not true, at least not for the Chicago office. The Starbucks card was not for finals. It was in exchange for filling out their OCI survey, which I assume means everyone who interviewed with them (or maybe got a callback) got once. I also haven't gotten any pretzels.

I don't think I can go on living if someone doesn't publicly tell me what K&E sent, who they sent it to, and why they sent it. Such a cruel, cruel world we live in.

eh, i'd want to know if a firm didn't have their shit together enough to keep track of all the summer associates they're supposed to send stuff to.

Shouldn't Latham be sending lube? You're going to need it if you accept their offer.

Seriously, why smart people who presumably have other options accept a Latham offer is beyond me.
Would you recommend a lower v100 over Latham?

I would recommend any market paying gig over Latham. Boom-bust is integral to their business model. If the economy goes to shit again, there goes half your class. And I doubt anyone is confident enough about the economy to make that worth it.

How quickly they forget.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
