OP here, again...What the exit options are at K&E Restructuring is the biggest ??? for me right now. I heard a lot of dudes will be picked up by a vulture fund, but I don't know if I want to go into PE/HF.Anonymous User wrote:can any speak to the former's exit ops (specifically for this practice?)Anonymous User wrote:I am original OP...deciding between Kirkland Chicago doing restructuring and V3 Corporate still. Can anyone shed light on how F500s look at people coming from restructuring for GC positions? I know that the V3, based on their training program, will probably make me more appealing to companies down the line. I just don't know how much more appealing...

Yeah would love to know the comparison of exit options between Kirkland(Ny or Chi) with places like SullCrom and Davis Polk, thanks.

Re: V3 Corporate vs. Boies vs. Kirkland (Chicago)
Nobody ITT can really answer this question. These firms are major brand names in the field, but are near the top in their separate markets. They are roughly of the same order of selectivity. People can speculate how recruiters will treat candidates from each firm, but here the speculation would be really based in nothing.
The bigger question here is market and practice area. Why is the decision Kirkland bankruptcy versus corporate at S&C or CSM? Are you just choosing those based on the ranking of the practice areas? Choose based on what you want to do and where you want to be. I feel like you want Kirkland Chicago but are afraid that people won't know that you had a CSM/S&C offer. Don't be. Recruiters know the selectivity of these offices are comparable if that's what you're really worried about.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you lateral from V3 to Kirkland but not the other way around? If this is the case, then OP could always go to Kirkland if he/she finds V3 not to be what he/she wants.

Have you definitely eliminated Boies? I accepted an offer there (obviously I think you're making a mistake

I did. My academic background is unusual enough that I can't guarantee a clerkship to fall back on in the event I'm part of the class that doesn't get an offer.Anonymous User wrote:Have you definitely eliminated Boies? I accepted an offer there (obviously I think you're making a mistake)

Depends on the V3. Cravath or WLRK don't take many lateral associates. S&C, definitely.jsarna1 wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you lateral from V3 to Kirkland but not the other way around? Addressing the second part of the first part of the OP's statement ("can't you lateral from V3 to Kirkland but not the other way around").Grizz wrote:CHECK YOU RCAnonymous User wrote:Depends on the V3. Not a great brag if it is. Seems like pretty much every single person I know with a Boies offer went somewhere else.JusticeHarlan wrote:Least subtle brag ever?Anonymous User wrote:Have you definitely eliminated Boies? I accepted an offer there (obviously I think you're making a mistake)
