Hang in there, I've talked to multiple people with less. Any idea why? Bidding on super-selective firms or whatnot?

Top 15%, secondary journal, some work experience
18 interviews
1,2,3,5,7,8,11,16,18,20,22,23,24,26,29,33,34,35
I targeted NJ and got almost all of the NJ firms coming to OCI. The rest are a mix of v50s and v100s.

Re: Fordham OCI Thread 2011
No offense to the 26er, but there is a huge difference between 26 and 23 at forhdam due to the way we rank our students. 23% = top 25% (anywhere from 11-25%), whereas 26% = 33% (anywhere from 26-33%). Because of that, I don't think anything went wrong with his bidding, it was the fact that you were in the second traunch of students and he or she was in the third. Fordham goes 10, 25, then 33.Anonymous User wrote:I was around 23% + secondary and got around 14 last year. Did something go wrong with your bidding? Good luck, you only need one, and you definitely have a fair chance with those stats!Blimpo12 wrote:Top 26% secondary. 5 interviews. Ready to killself.
I really hate the system, because it screws the people at the lower end of the group in order to help the people at the higher end. So, 26 gets screwed whereas 23 gets really helped. Similarly, 11% gets royally screwed.

To the above poster: Do you work at the school, or are you a student wagering guesses as to how the bidding system works?

3.62 (top 10%) and LR.
22 interviews comprising almost all of 1-10 and more than half of 25-35. I purposely put the high prestige firms that don't historically make offers to self-selected students in the 25-35 range, and I think that strategy worked.

I don't understand, is there some sort of computerized cut-off? I don't see how this would affect firms choosing students unless they are actively making a cut-off point at 25% or 10%. CPC allows you to put on your resume the 25% cut-off point even if you are 26% as long as you are doing "3.4X = approximately 25%" or whatever it was. And if you're 11%, then you can use the 10% mark on your resume. That's my understanding at least.Anonymous User wrote:No offense to the 26er, but there is a huge difference between 26 and 23 at forhdam due to the way we rank our students. 23% = top 25% (anywhere from 11-25%), whereas 26% = 33% (anywhere from 26-33%). This is correct. It's exactly what CPC told me to do.Anonymous User wrote:I don't understand, is there some sort of computerized cut-off? I employed a similar bidding strategy. I think I would have snagged a few more interviews with the 25-35 bid range "high prestige" firms if I'd made Law Review.Anonymous User wrote:Top 8-10%, non-LR secondary journal.
18 interviews. Probably bid on too many ultra-selective firms, but previous poster is right: The work starts now.
After reading this thread, it seems like LR gave people a nice boost.
EDIT: clarified my post.

Re: Fordham OCI Thread 2011 -- All We Need Is One
I'm hoping one of you can answer a question I have. I'm transferring into Fordham (and can't fully participate in EIW which sucks a lot) and was told that we're not allowed to mass mail firms participating in OCI until after they interview on campus. So who exactly am I supposed to mass mail at this point? Or should I just cross my fingers and wait until next week to start?

Wow. Come to our school, pay us thousands of dollars, but don't you dare contact a firm who is interviewing here. Are the OCI police going to arrest you for mass mailing an OCI firm? Start mass mailing EVERYONE you can immediately.nyjfanjmk wrote:I'm hoping one of you can answer a question I have. I don't think this rule should apply to you, since you can't participate in oci. I know a transfer from last year who got a job during oci. Check again with cpc, and then mass mail anyway. The timing here is too crucial to pass up. You probably should hav mass mailed alreadynyjfanjmk wrote:I'm hoping one of you can answer a question I have. None. I think you can feel comfortable when you have 5 callbacks or an offer.Anonymous User wrote:This is relevant to my interests.Anonymous User wrote:How may screeners is considered a "comfortable" amount?
But somewhere around 15 screeners it seems people do very well. Screeners mean nothing though, they really just correlate with grades.

Grueling first day of interviews, I hope they went well for everyone. I am just bumping the thread in hopes that people will post their callback results as they start to come in over the next few days. Most helpful would be the firm name and the date of your interview (so we can see how many days there were between interview and callback). Thanks in advance!
