I only applied to two divisions, and each cover letter was fairly specific. FWIW, I have interviews with both DC divisions, but not with the regional office I applied to.

My was not tailored, and I've got an enforcement division interview. I did tailor one for the Office of the Chief Accountant (my first choice), but they haven't contacted me.

I know for a fact that interview does not equal offer... the email was very explicit that my interviewer will report back to the full committee.

Sounds right. Good luck tomorrow (or Monday).

Has anyone had a telephone interview with the Enforcement division? If so, what sort of questions did they ask?

I had mine yesterday. Very basic questions... things like "why the enforcement division" and "how do your experiences line up."

They said they have 12 spots, and they had over 500 applications. Before you get an interview, there have already been two rounds of cuts. (So if you get an interview, you're lucky.) They said they'll let us know within two weeks, probably sooner.

I'm probably not going to accept even if they offer: I was not aware of the fact that enforcement division does not have post-graduation jobs to hand out. I have a COA internship lined up in the market I want to work in, so that seems more likely to help my career than the SEC... although I'd love to end up there one day.

I was told the 1Ls won't be paid. Not sure about the 2Ls.

Has anyone who accepted an offer heard anything afterwards? Like about security clearances and whatnot?

I submitted to over 10 divisions, individually tailored cover letters, about 5 days before the deadline.

I've sent a follow-up e-mail asking for status.

How can you possibly be legitimately interested in 10 divisions? That is probably the root of the problem... SEC will see right through you

Enforcement, one of the larger units, only has 12 1L spots. And they had over 500 applicants. Insane competition. :(

What are the criteria do they use to narrow down the pile pre-interview? School? Grades? Finance-related work experience?

All of the above.

I wonder what their yield is going to be like this year since they aren't paying. Especially when other finreg agencies are.

Yes. Got an email a couple of days ago from DC (interning in a regional office, though) with attached paperwork and the "official" offer letter.

Which division? It's been about a week with no word for me.

Yes. Offer about two days after interview. Also got one from Trading and Markets. Likely taking neither.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
