Got a federal position!

I applied for the program at the end of December. Got a call from a local firm for an interview last week. And received an email yesterday saying I made it to the next stage - judicial review.

The process if rolling, so they will keep contacting folks until all 200 spots are filled.

Thanks for sharing and congratulations! My classmates who received screenings and I have still not heard about whether we will be moving forward (we all interviewed in January) - may I ask what general region you listed as your preference?

My classmates and I listed different regions, mainly West coast though.

JIOP never notified me that my materials were being passed on, but I was contacted by a judge recently.

im getting quite frustrated. I haven't heard from the program about the status of my application since the preliminary screening. Does this mean my application didn't pass through to the judicial round? I wish they would give us more of a status update

Is it true that if you get interviewed by one judge in the program, that means you won't be getting interviews from other judges?

No, the judge I interviewed with told me she felt I was better suited to work with a judge in the criminal realm (she's civil) and she said she hoped I get offered an interview from a judge in that realm- she said she believes people can get 2+ interviews.

But if you interview with one and are offered, you have to accept, or else you get kicked out of the program, right?

Yes, if you're offered a position from a judge, you either must accept it, or essentially be dropped out of the candidate pull.

I had my screening interview towards the end of December and did not receive any emails or additional information until late January when I was contacted by a federal judge. I interviewed with the clerks and was offered the position the following day.
