I know of one classmate who has received an offer from Baker Botts - Houston (prior to grades being released). Fairly impressive IP background.

Baker Botts Houston definitely seems to be moving its gears into action -- offers to some 1L HLS students have gone out as wellchadwick218 wrote:I know of one classmate who has received an offer from Baker Botts - Houston (prior to grades being released). Fairly impressive IP background.

Neither had grades available. Both were IP from fairly prestigious undergrads and a couple years of WE.DoubleChecks wrote:chadwick218 wrote:I know of two Houston interviews/offers.lightbulb1986 wrote:any updates on V&E? Don't want to out myself (haha, yeah right), but I interviewed with a firm and got an offer at the end of the day. Other firms I have interviewed with said they're going to wait until around the end of January, though they said if I get an offer I should let them know so they can expedite the process.

Does any one know if top 25% T30 with 4 years of prestigious accounting experience and CPA competitive for a 1L SA in TX?

Re: TX 1L Biglaw SA Interview Timetable
and what doesnt lock lorde count exactly? anyone know what the top firms in Houston are? im presuming VE, BB, FJ? then? hayboo is prob more dallas-based im guessingAnonymous User wrote:I would concur about the HayBoo Fast Track. Its not worth the risk of hurting 2L summer employment options just for 3K.
However, if you are considering Dallas, I would highly recommend it. HayBoo is the largest law firm in Dallas, the largest firm based in Dallas, the fifth largest Texas firm (behind the big 3 and Locke which doesn't really count), and has done really well over the past several years. If you want to be in Dallas, it should be at the top of your list.

I live in a midsize city in the south and would like to live in Dallas or Houston. I have received a couple semi-interested replies but not sure how top 25% will swing them, was top 8% for a while then a B in Torts screwed me over.DoubleChecks wrote:first off, do you have ties? it'll be hard regardless though...Anonymous User wrote:Does any one know if top 25% T30 with 4 years of prestigious accounting experience and CPA competitive for a 1L SA in TX?

I also worked as a CPA prior to law school. While it helped me, I think that without ties to Texas you are in a tight spot from what I've saw develop over 2L OCI. Having ties to Texas is critical. Also, depending on the particular school, top 25% at a T30 may not cut it.Anonymous User wrote:Does any one know if top 25% T30 with 4 years of prestigious accounting experience and CPA competitive for a 1L SA in TX?

Re: TX 1L Biglaw SA Interview Timetable
What are the chances for someone at a T20, top 20% with work experience and ties to Texas? Is it too late to send out resumes at this point? I wanted to wait for grades and I just received my last grade recently.

pretty late to send it out at this point. i mean, if you have the time and inclination, why not -- but i know some big firms have filled up a lot of spots.Anonymous User wrote:What are the chances for someone at a T20, top 20% with work experience and ties to Texas? Thanks, but if it weren't too late would I even have a chance? I guess I'm just not sure whether my ranking is high enough to justify spending the time.DoubleChecks wrote:pretty late to send it out at this point. i mean, if you have the time and inclination, why not -- but i know some big firms have filled up a lot of spots.Anonymous User wrote:What are the chances for someone at a T20, top 20% with work experience and ties to Texas? Get everything together today/tomorrow and get it to the firms by Tuesday. Can't hurt to try.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks, but if it weren't too late would I even have a chance? It doesn't hurt to try. However, I'm not sure the ranking alone would make you competitive.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks, but if it weren't too late would I even have a chance? One recruiter told me her office received over 400 applications for less than 10 1L positions.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
