God, I hate biglaw. If I don't land one of these boutiques and have to go to a damn big firm, I'm going to be seriously depressed.

Dinged at Debevoise NYC. Already have offers at a V5 and a V10, though.

Is the anxiety of waiting to hear back driving anyone else crazy? I have no offers (1 rejection and 3 in limbo) and I find it hard to concentrate on anything else.

9/13, 19/15, 9/22 thing that hurts is that the one I got rejected from had the highest offer rate...

I don't go to HLS but damn. If you guys are having a hard time, what's the point for the rest of us?
Also, do you HLSers think that the non-letter grading system helped or hurt you guys? I'm from CLS and kinda wish that we had the high pass/pass system. I hate that firms that rank us with the number of As, regardless of people's resumes and other accomplishments.

Re: HLS EIP 2010 Offer Thread
Same thing happens here except its with H"s. The problem here at HLS for the bottom half is that there are too few callbacks to go around. In other words a lot of people got 2 or 3 callbacks while this should be enough to get an offer, its not enough to feel secure about anything until you actually have one. I had four callbacks but still FEAR that I will strike out looking at the callback-offer ratios provided from last year, which were 30-40% for most firms, closer to 30%. I am literally a nervous-wreck.

I'm pretty nervous myself. 4 CBs, but I've already gotten rejected at what should have been the safest bet. I'm also top 25% with WE. I guess I was pretty naive thinking it couldn't happen to me. The weird thing is that many of my interviewers would look at my transcript and comment on how well I've done, and later they'd say things like, "you're going to have tough choices to make," and they'd be trying to pitch the firm more than interview me. I wonder if they were simply concerned that I wasn't interested. I worked very hard to convey that I was, but, alas.

LOL i go to a less prestigious school, but top 10% and I get the same "you have tough choices ahead of you, let me sell you on my firm." I've had 8 callbacks and no offers...no rejections either, but ya know. weird. i worry they think i am not interested...which i'm not, just give me a fucking job.Anonymous User wrote:I'm pretty nervous myself. 4 CBs, but I've already gotten rejected at what should have been the safest bet. Re: HLS EIP 2010 Offer Thread
Glad to hear someone can sympathize, at my CB they spent half the time talking about how great the firm was and how other firms didn't measure up, I thought I was golden, then they rejected me.
.
3 decisions left and I'm preparing for the worst.... I also have below median grades and no WE so I can't even count on that....
And I agree with the sentiment....JUST GIVE ME AN F-ING JOB!

Yeah, I've had a firm just talk themselves up the whole time and then reject me. Doesn't make sense, but I'm not on the other side of the table.

Yea, if you want to grill me, grill me. Happy to answer questions. I never have a ton of questions because so much of my impression on the firm is how people say stuff, not what stuff they say. Was at a V20 firm where everyone I met seemed passive-aggressive toward their peers. Big turn off, but i'm not going to ask "So are you guys assholes to each other?"

The money is literally the only reason I want BIGLAW. I don't care about the crap work, prestige or anything, maybe it comes through in my interviews....

So does everyone else though. I highly doubt that there are any kids out there that are crappin their pants b/c they're excited about doc review or researching on lexis.Anonymous User wrote:The money is literally the only reason I want BIGLAW. 90% of the value of an HLS degree comes from BIGLAW. DOJ, ACLU, SEC are impossible to get even with an HLS degree, should have taken the money at Columbia.....

This isn't true. I'm very, very excited about working at a large firm. I hope to spend my entire career at one. So do many of my friends at HLS.Anonymous User wrote:So does everyone else though. Doc review is far from all you do at a big firm, and it can be really exciting when you're looking at the other party's documents. It also only lasts so long. You pay your dues, do a good job on the substantive work, and you get to leave it behind. As far as researching on Lexis goes, that's pretty fundamental legal work for litigators, at firms of many different sizes. If you're not spending a lot of time on the databases, then you're probably not dealing with interesting legal issues.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
