Also, V&E is definitely not becoming more NY.

I based my statements off a family friend who was a V&E partner until recently. His practice had shifted toward NYC and he had mentioned the firm was going after that type of work. I didn't mean that it was becoming more NY from a cultural standpoint.

I would be interested in hearing thoughts on Gibson Dunn, Weil, and Akin Gump as compared to BB, FJ, and V&E for Dallas. I have little interest in litigation.

I heard that aside from Jones Day, people should avoid the satellite offices generally.

Any specific reason why people should steer clear of Gibson, Weil, etc.?

Where did you hear that it's more doc review than at the native TX firms?

V&E- had 100% offer rate for the summer class.

BB- laid off a lot of people.

FJ- litigation, litigation, litigation.

V&E did not have 100% offer rate for the summer class. Very close though.

According to Texas Lawyer, V&E's rate was 94% and BB's was 93%. I heard unofficially that in Houston, FJ offered about 90% as well.

For TX, I'd always take one of the big 3 or the prestigious boutiques over the non-HQ offices, unless my ultimate ambitions were outside of the state.

By prestigious boutiques do you mean Susman and Gibbs...or any others as well?

can anybody speak to the compensation and bonus structure among the Big3? Only sources I've read put v&e as the market leader, but numbers would be helpful.
