Yep, one of the partners who interviewed me called and then emailed. I know of someone who interviewed the same day as I did and heard last week, so it definitely varies.Anonymous User wrote:Congrats! Did you hear today?Anonymous User wrote:Offer, CB interview wednesday of last week.

Just curious: about how much time should one block off for a DPW CB? Mine is scheduled in the morning and I have a flight at 7:30pm and I don't want to cut it short in case it goes well (fingers crossed). Thoughts?

You'll be fine with a 7:30pm flight.
DPW isn't Cravath . . . your interviews will not go for 1.5 hrs + each.

For those who received offers - advice? Thoughts on the process? Did you go to a dinner/lunch? If so, how was it?

Re: Davis Polk offers thread
I was morning + lunch. The process is you get to reception and fill out a form, a little more info requested than other firms but really nothing major. Then you get an office tour, and the tour ends with your first of 4 interviews. Each are roughly 30 minutes long, and will probably be a variety of practice areas with some effort to match you with people who share background (especially law school) with you. Lunch was 2 younger associates at a nice restaurant, very low key. In that sense, it's really a standard issue law firm call back.Anonymous User wrote:For those who received offers - advice? They stress a collegial, team-based atmosphere in their literature, and so selling yourself as a team player is probably smart. Obviously you can't just say "I am a team player!" but keep it in mind as you choose stories to tell. In general people were energetic and friendly, don't expect much in the way of behavioral or challenging questions. You should probably respond with energy and enthusiasm. They're also proud of the fact that they kick ass at everything they do and have a broad range of assignments - with full time associate coordinators - for summers. Asking about that, and sounding like it would work well for you, is probably wise.
Beyond that you can't really prep or train for a personality fit.

Re: Davis Polk offers thread
I interviewed Tues, Aug 24 and got an offer Thurs, Aug 26. I did an afternoon with no meal. I know it has taken longer (and/or is taking longer) for others from my school. My guess is that they're fast-tracking certain people. I declined my offer already, and hopefully others will do the same soon for those of you still waiting!
I have two pieces of advice that aren't really unique to DPW but that I feel are more appropriate for there then some other places. First, on average, the people I met with were simply friendlier and more outgoing than at other firms. I therefore felt like they were placing more emphasis (whether purposely or not) on interviewees being genuinely pleasant and interesting. Second, and this doesn't necessarily mesh with the first, I think that the DPW interviewers expected me to talk more substantively about legal issues I've encountered in school and summer work than at most (though not all) other firms.

+1 to this. had one partner straight grill me on the callback (every other interviewer, on the other hand, was super chill; maybe this was coordinated). I thought the vetting ended at EIP?Anonymous User wrote: I think that the DPW interviewers expected me to talk more substantively about legal issues I've encountered in school and summer work than at most (though not all) other firms.

Re: Davis Polk offers thread
interesting. my interview experience was different. wasnt grilled any harder than at other interviews. two didnt even ask any question about my resume. the questions i did get asked about my resume were more insightful though. not just "describe ur experience here." i wouldn't call it grilling though. they asked detailed questions but only of what was already written on my resume. and not in the way that they were testing me but more because they seemed interested/trying to make conversation. pple were just as friendly as other places. cant say this cb really stood out from the rest.
