Does this fair include GLBTQ as "diversity"?

From Colorado, went to school there, lived in Denver, and would love to wind up back home. It'd be great to interview with a few extra firms there (particularly since a good number don't come out to CA for our OCI).

Yes, it's the same for me. I sent an email asking about it but have not heard anything back yet.

If you change your status from 1L to 2L on your profile you will see all of the employers who will be interviewing 2L students at the fair this fall. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Got Snell, Fennemore, and Rodey. A little bummed...deciding if it's worth the couple of hundred dollars to travel there. did others have more luck?

Notice to Employers

The legal profession has undergone many changes over the past two years. Still, employers want to continue to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and prepare for any hiring needs they may have in the future. Accordingly, we have added a new feature to the Rocky Mountain Diversity Legal Career Fair. For 2011, registered employers may conduct either traditional interviews for open positions, or informational interviews. When you post your job openings on this site, please specify which type of interview you are conducting. This will permit students and recent graduates to make informed decisions about how to spend their time and travel budgets.

I don't think any of the firms specified what their hiring needs are. I know that the firms I am interviewing with all had SAs last year...I do wonder what the callback rate was. I've had success at other fairs though.

So the deadline to accept is tomorrow. I've got a significant number of interviews (7 of them) and am wondering whether its worth the money to fly out to interview when I have absolutely no ties to the area. I've been to other fairs where I had no ties to the city either, and those have seemed like a complete waste. Can anyone enlighten me about Denver, its acceptance of outsiders, and whether firms would take me seriously if I've never been to the city before. I hate to pass up interviews, but also don't want to spend the time and money flying out somewhere if my chances of landing anything from it are essentially nil.

Yeah these fairs are so frustrating. They say that they are holding the fair to attract diverse students to the area but then if you have no ties they don't want you. How about my tie to the area is that there are jobs here.

I think I may pass on these interviews. If it's like the St Louis fair, it will be a complete waste of time for non-Denver people.

I feel for you. LOL at the St. Louis fair, the employers have so little regard for the city. To them, anywhere else is better. If you're from West of Columbia, Missouri, you're even considered a flight risk...

FWIW i'm not from St. Louis and was only grilled about it by one employer(one of the big 3(BC/Husch/TC/Etc). I'm not saying i'm going to be swimming in callbacks, but I think as long as you have a legitimate story, you'll be ok. That said, if you've never been to the area, or have a resume that screams NYC/LA/Chi, they will be skeptical.

They may not have asked you about it, but that means they probably have their mind made up already one way or the other. If you get a CB, they will certainly grill you on it.

I'm at WUSTL and they view US as having insufficient ties; I can only imagine what they think about people with no ties to the city whatsoever.

This is why lower ranked schools like Gdub and Fordham place more into biglaw, they are in actual legal margets. St. Louis is the napoleon complex of legal markets, every one thinks because we go to big bad WUSTL we are all off to Chicago megalawl or cocaine and hooker law in Midtown. You'd think with the market imploding they'd realize we don't have those options unless we are the top of the class. Ironically most of us don't have the grades to leave, but we also don't have the ties to stay.
