I got the deferment offer too, I am not accepting though. I am just worried c/o 2013 is going to be huge and we're going to get screwed with employment haha

I was thinking the same thing. It doesn't seem like people are really anxious to take the offer from the looks of TLS so far.Anonymous User wrote:I got the deferment offer too, I am not accepting though. pm'ed youberkeleykel06 wrote:If any of you guys offered a scholarship for deferring wouldn't mind PMing me your numbers, I'd really appreciate it. I'm thinking about deferring and I'm taking the June LSAT with the hope of raising my score enough to be able to leverage a scholarship out of deferring. I'm wondering what LSAT range I should be shooting for.

I know, actually I am a little surprised seeing it is a nice chunk of change. It is going to be interesting how this all goes down, this is all especially crazy since they had so many ED people and only a 10% acceptance rate.Anonymous User wrote:I was thinking the same thing. Re: Had to Post Anon - for UVA people regarding deferment
I am not anxious, i was shocked when they offered it, but when you realize that you have your name on a lease, a roommate, that tuition is more expensive each year, it really only will save you 30 K or so, and you put off a year probably accruing more debt. When i first got the offer, I was ready to accept on the spot, but after thinking about it, it doesnt seem worth the hassle.

Re: Had to Post Anon - for UVA people regarding deferment
3 questions:
1.) are these offers coming out today?
2.) for those who got the offer, are your numbers above or below the median?
3.) is it a really bad idea to call them up and say: "hey, i've heard that you guys are doing this, wanna give me the same offer?" I already have some money from UVA...and not sure if that is deterring them from giving me this offer

2) personally I'm a splitter lsat > median, gpa < median
3) probably not so long as you are polite about it, it sounds like they are pretty frantic to get people to defer

Dear UVA,
For a net savings of at least $30k and another year removed from ITE, I'll defer. PM me.
Best regards,
BWP

i think they're doing this bc they know that LSAT splitters are less likely to have better alternatives. Even with the year off, it's hard for them to do anything meaningful and get into a better school.

How is everyone getting these offers. By email?Anonymous User wrote:I just got an offer as well. Probably will not accept. Are you really planning on negotiating? If they do that, ill defer and get a job teaching english in korea or something. But for right now, i dont know if it is worth it to defer.thesealocust wrote:DEFER.

2) Nobody knows how bad it is, more time to watch would be clutch
3) Employer's value work experience, so you can either get some or get more than you otherwise would have had

If you have a job or anything to hold you till then, I would personally sit out a year to enjoy life/feel things out.

The question is, what is the difference between the first round and this one? In the first round I know there was at least one >75th Lsat and <median GPA

Maybe they're trying to take students out of the potential grinder of 2013 and keep them in reserve for next year so they have less people facing the worse job market; the goal being, perhaps, that it would give them better employment stats as a result?

I doubt it. I think it is as simple as an over-enrollment.Anonymous User wrote:Maybe they're trying to take students out of the potential grinder of 2013 and keep them in reserve for next year so they have less people facing the worse job market; the goal being, perhaps, that it would give them better employment stats as a result?

i think both are true. they said before the cycle began they wanted a smaller class; that isn't because OCI has been boomingAnonymous User wrote:I doubt it.
