I have to reverse my opinion. I stumbled upon my school's OCS site, and they say truncate, don't round.

There is some shocking math fail in this thread. You round numbers to places people, you do not successively round 'places' themselves--whatever the fuck that means. If you have a 3.54999 (which they will eventually see on your transcript) and they see you round to a 3.6 instead of a 3.5 they will assume you are either a cheat or a moron.

Truncating would be reporting a 3.5999 as a 3.5. edit: BTW, you were the one that actually got it right the first time around. Apparently reading this thread made you dumber.
