What's the precedent on how long it takes other firms to match? How long did it take in 2007 (for base)? How long did it take others to match bonuses?

Do Chicago firms match? If so, how long?

IIRC Cadwalader matched in literally like 20 minutes. The big boys matched pretty quick; most firms trickled in after a few weeks.Anonymous User wrote:What's the precedent on how long it takes other firms to match? Top 40 or 50 most profitable AmLaw 100 firms will likely make the jump, but will low-profitable or struggling firms even try (a good half of the AmLaw 200 have had some rough times lately)?BizBro wrote:How long til rest of v50 match?

A source of mine says that PW has been having extended discussions about going up before the announcement today. So they are almost certain to match.

Kirkland/Sidley/Skadden/Latham aren't going to start paying different offices different amounts. Maybe not every Chicago office will match but there's no way the firms that are a lock to match in NY won't raise pay firmwide like they have for the relevant past.Mack.Hambleton wrote:thismu13ski wrote:Do Chicago firms match? Can we get a poll predicting how long it will be before somebody matches?

yeah I expect the big names to jump to the new scale. Most others (Winston, dentons, etc.) will follow in a couple of years but be more generous with bonuses for nowCobretti wrote:Kirkland/Sidley/Skadden/Latham aren't going to start paying different offices different amounts. I've been floating a few rumors of NY to $200k in the inboxes of various reporters who seem dumb; everyone let me know if they want anything included.

FWIW and likely getting ahead of myself--but 2-3 TX firms raised to $160K within six months of the ST raise in 2007.

^^^That's my thought as well re Chicago. But I can see Chicago firms moving slower than other markets (e.g., DC) in matching NYC.Cobretti wrote:Kirkland/Sidley/Skadden/Latham aren't going to start paying different offices different amounts. But yeah, optics of not moving will be pretty damning for those that hold steady.

Make sure to include promises from firm leaders that bonuses are also likely to remain strong.Monochromatic Oeuvre wrote:I've been floating a few rumors of NY to $200k in the inboxes of various reporters who seem dumb; everyone let me know if they want anything included.

Guessing Simpson. They were first movers in 2007 and I bet they'll come out strong now.sublime wrote:I did which firm will be first to match instead.emkay625 wrote:Can we get a poll predicting how long it will be before somebody matches?
