Re: NYC to 200k
Now that the 200k mystique is gone, and the general sense that pretty much everybody who went 160-->180 will go 180-->190, the interesting question left is if the non-NY based firms with lower PPP and PPL with also do the summer bonuses. I have little doubt that the Arnold & Porters and Baker Botts of the world will go 190, but the bonus is another question.

GDC will, Orrick probably. Not sure Bracewell will match all the way up. Not sure they pay market through 8th year now, but I don't know anyone over there well enough to ask anymore.Anonymous User wrote:Thoughts on GDC/Orrick/Bracewell Houston matching?Anonymous User wrote:100%, given that K&E matched and so will Latham.Anonymous User wrote:Odds that BB and V&E in Houston match?

Once BB and V&E match, pretty much all Houston/Dallas biglaw will have to. Good to finally start talking about the important part of the country for matches.Anonymous User wrote:Thoughts on GDC/Orrick/Bracewell Houston matching?Anonymous User wrote:100%, given that K&E matched and so will Latham.Anonymous User wrote:Odds that BB and V&E in Houston match?

I just want to note for the record that Clifford Chance associates should be ashamed of themselves for allowing ATL to break the news without posting on TLS.

GDC will likely match all offices. I think they do already (not 100% sure on some of the smaller markets, i.e. Denver though). The others I don't know well enough to give a good opinion.

^ agree w/ this 100%. V&E/BB will lose big time if they do not match KE/LW (I'm sure LW is coming out soon).eng2jd wrote:Once BB and V&E match, pretty much all Houston/Dallas biglaw will have to. After that, expect NRF, LL, Akin Gump, HAK, Bracewell, H&B to match.
The smaller Texas shops like JW, TK, Gardere, Porter Hedges, Winstead, etc. will want to match at least for first years but the numbers may not be there. Will be interesting to watch this unfold.

Sounds about right. OCI bidding for UT (obviously the largest draw for all of these firms) closes on July 5th, so it may not happen today but it will certainly happen before then.Anonymous User wrote:^ agree w/ this 100%. Re: NYC to 200k
Gardere is now part of Foley & Lardner; Foley matched last time but it took about 2 months before we heard. I'm guessing they'll match once Sidley announces as that's who they seem to think is a peer (Sidley is not a peer, they're better) but now with Jones Day matching (and being the highest in Detroit and other markets Foley has offices) and other Chicago firms hitting that matching stride, it seems as though Foley will match in major markets sometime within the next month. Sad thing is, they'll match, not do the bonus, and then the match won't apply until 2019 fiscal year starts.Anonymous User wrote:^ agree w/ this 100%. I would be surprised if Latham moved fast enough to match today. No doubt they will, but I would expect it to be mid next week before they do.Anonymous User wrote:Official prediction: Latham matches today.
Latham is already super slow with bonuses/raises (took almost 2 weeks in 2016 to move to 180) and Latham has not replaced its chairperson yet after Bill Voge's resignation.
