Yeah. Doesn't really make much sense to say how many call backs you have and withhold GPA which would be helpful as a frame of reference. I guess it's out of my hands now, and I should just go to bed and stop worrying about it

the reason is simple. firms have my transcript. no need to show my hand before things are secured. Callbacks are not the same as offers. summer offers aren't the same as permanent offers.
I'm happy to offer information that's hopefully helpful to somebody, but not at risk to myself.

I would love to hear (or maybe not) how T20-30's are doing. Haven't heard much at all from those people. Anyone have ANY info in that range?

When was UVA's OCI? I am really starting to stress after hearing this. I'm also at Mich, well into the top 1/3 (maybe even top 10%-15%), and have heard nothing. I'm not a bad interviewer, either (at least I didn't think so).
I'm from Mich as well and am also in the top 10-15% range. I haven't heard anything from Chicago either. My 2 callbacks are from a secondary market. Three firms told me they were meeting to discuss summer hires mid-week or early in September and wouldn't be doing any callbacks until then. They seemed to think this was standard practice amongst firms this year. I wouldn't sweat it just yet.

Posted this in the GULC thread, but thought it would bear reposting here. Assuming you're in the bottom half then...it's still not to late to cut your losses and drop out. Look at it this way, successful people with little debt will be successful anywhere, whether it be in law or some other field. However if you don't land biglaw, 6 figure debt will make success much tougher to attain, even for very high achievers who happen to miss the biglaw boat.

Exclusively Chicago. Sounds like they're taking it slow this year, so hopefully that is the case.

Your posting anonymously and haven't disclosed what firms specifically, and from the list of firms that have made callbacks it appears that there are quite a few so you are in almost no danger of outing yourself (just round to one digit-- e.g instead of 3.685, just say ~3.7).

i think it's obvious that this person is on LR and probably had a 3.6+.

So, in other words, way better then top 1/3.

I just got done reading this thread and it's definitely scaring me a lot. I'm seriously considering just pulling out of my transfer decision to go to UM and just go back to my old school keeping my full ride (I haven't formally withdrawn yet) and just taking the $6K hit on expenses incurred moving to A2, etc. I mean, if people at CCN are having this tough of a time I question whether I'm going to get anywhere ITE with only grades from my old school (a t3).

~top 5%, LR, CCN
15ish interviews, 4 callbacks, few rejections
rejections have been at the interviews i've bombed or not seemed very enthusiastic about. the callbacks have been at the firms i were most excited/interested in. so i think that just looking at the #'s is sort of misleading. i just won't have cb's to burn

well....you just went through OCI I guess. How was that?
Honestly, I have no idea. It seemed like a lot of firms weren't giving me a serious interview though. I had a lot where the firm just had me ask questions about them and wouldn't really ask much of anything about me. I found that irritating because it really does me no good for the firm to sell themselves to me if they aren't going to give me a callback. The first 3 interviews or so I just went with it, and then after that I literally started going off by saying "well on your website it says you are looking for XYZ, here's how I meet XYZ, now what additional attributes and qualities are you looking for in a successful candidate," followed by me answering with how I met those attributes as well.
The shitty thing was I only had 11 interviews scheduled to begin with, and 5 were firms that required a really high GPA in the past. I filled in on a bunch of lists and ended up with around 23 interviews total, but a lot of those ended up being really high GPA firms as well since it seemed like no one bid on anything that averaged more then a 3.4 GPA on the GPA correlation chart.
So far I had 2 rejections (out of my original 11, which all the interviews I got in my target market) and no callbacks.

I also echo what someone else said up here to those of you who haven't heard from anywhere - it sounds like NY CB's are coming pretty quickly, but a lot of the other markets seem to be really taking their time. I wouldn't sweat it. I've had several firms tell me they wouldn't be making a decision until they finished OCI interviewing at all the top schools and then did CBs all at once instead of rolling.

So is 3.6
way better than top 1/3 at most T7-14 schools?

2 Interviews through off campus interview program (v5, v20), t18 school 3.99 gpa. Radio silence so far, didn't think the interviews went too terribly, only been a couple days though.
Also sent tailored cover letters/resumes to 7 firms in my secondary market of choice 3 weeks ago. Heard back from two, with an IP firm that no-offered tons of people saying no thanks without a technical degree, and a v50 saying that they couldn't interview me.
Have a resume drop from our school this week, let's hope that works out a bit better.
And this thread has been pretty sobering to read through.

Probably quite a bit at most, although Michigan has a 3.19 curve, while a lot of others have a 3.3 curve. At Northwestern, that's probably median, though.

I think that's overstating the case at NU a LITTLE...
Yeah. NU's median is nowhere near 3.6. While nobody knows the actual number and it likely moves a bit from year to year due to our banded curve, the best estimate I've heard is around 3.35.
that's still pretty high.

I was joking of course, but it's probably higher than 3.35, and it's also a weird curve with a lot of A+s, less clustered.

XxSpyKEx wrote:This is pretty bad. Also, I'm noticing a real lack of posters here that are in the t7-14 range. Not sure if that means that they are all so pissed off that they don't want to post, but I'd definitely like to here some more from those schools (since there have been so many CCN posts and those are all pretty brutal). More specifically those students around top 1/4, top 1/3, and median in the t7-14 range (including GULC). Also, is there no people on here that go to HYS?-- there's not a single post from HYS on here.
T7-14, top 15%
~25 interviews... includes entire spectrum of Vault firms and some non-Vault as well
4 callbacks (all V50 or better)
2 rejections (both below V50)
~5-10 that have given callbacks to other people, but I haven't heard anything
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
