I received a screener invitation from Weil yesterday so it appears at least some group hasn't done with recruiting yet.

It just feels like it has been close to non-existent this year; many offers seem to be coming later than the years prior - I read posts from the last few years indicating people got offers during July/August which did not happen this year.

I agree that firms are being more cautious this year. Not exactly sure why. Maybe recession rumblings, but who knows.
I think more 3L hiring will happen after Oct. 1. Several firms have mentioned that. The NALP rules changed, and many firms have pushed back the acceptance date for summer associates. Once firms know how many of their summers are actually returning, and to which groups, they can identify and address needs with 3Ls.

I'm seconding this. When I mass mailed firms several responded saying that they don't do 3L hiring before October 1.Anonymous User wrote:I agree that firms are being more cautious this year. Not exactly sure why. Maybe recession rumblings, but who knows.

Had a callback with Milbank earlier this week but haven't heard back. Does that mean a ding? Hope they know that my v100 offer deadline is next Monday...I'm really stressed.

Interesting, didn't know firms pushed back acceptance dates. Did tons of firms do so this year, and how far did they push the dates back?Anonymous User wrote:I agree that firms are being more cautious this year. Not exactly sure why. Maybe recession rumblings, but who knows.

Re: 3L OCI 2019
My understanding is that the new NALP guidelines call for firms to give law students who have previously worked with the firm (i.e., summered with the firm) until October 1st to decide on offers. I think this is mainly to protect rising 2Ls so as to allow them to participate in OCI. But it may also apply to 3Ls. I haven't looked too deeply into the rules.Anonymous User wrote:Interesting, didn't know firms pushed back acceptance dates. The caveat is that these NALP guidelines are exactly that -- mere guidelines. Firms don't face much pressure to abide by these guidelines, except maybe from law schools.
So this year, some firms extended the time period by which their summers to accept or reject offers in line with the NALP guidelines, giving until Oct. 1 to decide. Other firms didn't, instead sticking with their normal 2-week or other decision period policies. Beyond my own experiences, I don't have hard data on which firms chose which route.

Who hasn’t gotten a screener from Weil?? Anyone else feel like they’ve handed them out like candy?

Anyone interview with Pillbury's finance group? I interviewed on Thurs, not really sure if I would call it a screener, felt more CB style. Just wondering if anyone has heard back/has a scheduled interview.

Re: 3L OCI 2019
I think there’s a whole lot of confusion here. From my understanding, the NALP rules USED to suggest that firms give summers until Oct. 1st to accept, and the new rules struck out that requirement. So the firms that mentioned that they will be hiring after Oct. 1 – did they do so in reply to your app?Anonymous User wrote:My understanding is that the new NALP guidelines call for firms to give law students who have previously worked with the firm (i.e., summered with the firm) until October 1st to decide on offers. It’s really starting to look like those of us who are still looking need to be focusing on midlaw/small law at this point. I know 3L hiring is generally nonexistent, but it’s just been awful this year. What do y’all think?

Then just flip it. Maybe the NALP rules did away with the Oct. 1 requirement, and some firms are still adhering to it.Anonymous User wrote:I think there’s a whole lot of confusion here.
