The decision on a candidate is usually made before the thank you note even arrives, or often even mailed. I got a thank you note last week from an interviewee a couple hours after I got the email she'd received her offer.Emma. wrote:Eldon Tyrell wrote:Writing thank you notes for screeners is insane. You have too many and it's not going to make the difference. Hey everyone, I'm wondering if I should be worried yet.
I'm primarily targeting LA, I have a 179 GPA, leaning litigation, I've felt that the screeners have all gone well, but I haven't gotten any LA callbacks yet. Besides one ding at Mayer Brown, it's been total radio silence.

No dings is better than dings. Plus you're still in the normal range of callback response time for California firms, especially for your Thursday and Friday interviews. Just keep chugging.
Do you have any feel for how your interviews are going? Have the attorneys responded better or worse to some of your answers? Do you have ties to California? Have you been selling why you want to be there and why the practice areas you're interested in work with that firm?

I think we can agree that a thank you note is unlikely to be the difference between a callback and a ding. Nevertheless, it isn't "only for your own edification." It's just a nice thing to do. Sometimes it's ok to do things that are nice even when you get no tangible benefit from doing so.skers wrote:The decision on a candidate is usually made before the thank you note even arrives, or often even mailed. Still too early to be worried about not hearing back from Chi offices for last week's interviews? I didn't think Chi took this long

I would start to feel some concern, but not panic. Your GPA is good, but not good enough that you'll get on-the-spot CB offers. I think you'll get a few bites soon.Anonymous User wrote:Hey everyone, I'm wondering if I should be worried yet.

Re: UChicago OCI 2016
Is taking a CB on a Saturday in any way bad or worse than taking a weekday? I can do a Saturday this weekend or a weekday two weeks from now and I'd rather move quickly than slowly.
